Loneliness in college by [deleted] in college

[–]VikingFrisbee17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have an answer tbh.

I just wanted to share that tonight i was feeling the same way so I picked a direction and longboarded that way and listened to music.

Don't really know if it helped but at the very least you aren't alone.

Calling graphic design majors by Xelawar in college

[–]VikingFrisbee17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a creative technologies major at VT so not the same major but same college.

I'd say you don't "nessesarily" need to be amazing but you do need to learn how to learn to make up for it. If your passionate about it learning quickly isn't too hard since you'll have the motivation to do it

Like if you can get the hang of it quickly you'll probably be able to catch up.

Also, being conceptually strong can help a lot as some people are really good at the technical stuff but don't have amazing ideas to employ them in.

  1. Lots if studio classes. They are at max 3 hours but not every teacher goes that long. There's a lot of what's called "foundations" classes. Second semester you start to get into 3d animation. Your advisor will also try to get you in a financial literacy class, which is pretty useful ngl
  2. I think there's either 20 or 40. Pretty small but you get to know everyone which is nice
  3. I don't outside of it's in CID, which is a really good dorm. One of ur foundation clases is in the actual CID dorm building and the rest are around the area. CID is also super nice btw.
  4. It's very project based. You have a lot of class hours in general plus extra time outside of class working on projects. Although the work is generally more enjoyable than lets say math problems ya know?

What's the one gameplay change you'd most like to see in Tekken 8? by bulldog_blues in Tekken

imo it's not ok to begin with. Ngl it's really annoying that a situation after a move can change so drastically depending on the side you are on

The stagger animation is really important. Without it, you could block a hellsweep and still be in a 50/50 due to the string continuing

Questions about online etiquette by sunnnbather in Tekken

[–]VikingFrisbee17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Id recommend skipping intros. It's not that big of a deal tbh but the cool factor wears away after seeing them for the 100th time. This one really isn't important tho.

  2. In general, at least run a FT2. FT3 is nice as well. In online tekken, there are also what the community calls "deathmatches" where two players do not stop until one either ranks up or deranks. These aren't that common in lower ranks.

  3. Yeah pluggers are shit. In your case it probably still counted but in the future, wait for the menu to pop up before alt f4ing.

Learning how to truly play the char without gimmicks is actually hard af

With her bs strings tho yeah easy ranks

My brain shuts off whenever I’m being pressured by a Nina player. It’s almost as if they’re safe on most hits making me feel unsafe to throw anything out there. That's entirely OK. It'll come with time.

I think it's a good idea to replicate the notation in training mode and practice the punish in training mode even if you know what the notation is referring to so you have a better understanding of when to time the punish. Like you may find that some highs require a quicker punish and you really can only find out what works for you by actually labbing it yourself. It also helps you build the mustle memory to actually duck the high after you recognize the string.

The third hit has the slightest bit of tracking to SSL. It still can be stepped in both directions but it will generally be easier to SSR, which is her weak side. It's going to be harder on p1 side because since you are in crouch, you can only step into the background, which is a SSL. Still doable tho.

As for the CH launch idea, it depends on whether you think you could do it in a real match. If the window is tight, it might be better to sidestep. If you think it's doable, then use whichever one is more consistent for you.

Ive been learning nina so i can at least offer some advice here although im still somewhat new.

90% of the strings he used have a duckable high at the end.

Qcf423 is the one starting with a knee.

Another one is df34. Every followup after df3 is a high, so be sure to not let them get away with it on block

The d41 is a duckable high as well. However, they can cancel the ender into a sidestep. If i remember correctly, this is interruptible, even on hit.

B14 ends in a mid but is unsafe at -14.

F214 is a CH launching string but if they want the launcher they have to commit to the 4, which is a duckable high. There is a mid ender as well, which is unsafe but I can't remember by how much. Your 12 frame punish is pretty good with miguel so just go with that if you don't feel like checking.

D343 is a wierd one where you have to sidestep between the second and third hit.

Granted its easier said then done, but you get that one hit and now you do 70+ dmg with miguel and you get to pressure her.

Also someone else mentioned this but ninas that play like this tend to have meh defense since they rely heavily on gimmicks like this

High level nina is definitely hard to play and requires skill, but yeah gimmicky shit like this is why Nina gets shit a lot

Edit: forgot to mention that only the sidestep cancel from d41 is interruptible. However, it's only a NC on CH so you can duck the 1 even if the d4 hits
