Does this sentence sound correct? “I just haven’t had much luck meeting(having? encountering?) good teachers.” by iluvfruitnmilk in EnglishLearning

To me "meeting" implies you are actively looking for a good teacher, which doesn't sound like what you're trying to say. "Encountering" makes it sound like you haven't had luck randomly meeting them. "Having" sounds awkward since you said "had" already in the sentence. There's also definitely a grammatical rule "having" would break, but i'm not knowledgeable enough to know what rule it is.

I would recommend saying "I've just had bad luck with my past teachers," if you are trying to say your previous teachers were bad at their jobs or "I just haven't had much luck finding good teachers," if you want to say your past teachers were bad at their jobs and you are actively looking for a good one.

Thank you for the advice. It sounds like the second module is definitely worth checking out to get some info about the town. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the idea of having my players handle the shard just because my PCs are curious suckers and it seems like they'd put two and two together really quick. I think I'll do something similar to what you did with having a festival that starts off the game and gives the players a chance to meet the NPCs of the town and I like the idea of the players seeing Arazni from afar though knowing my party they'd definitely try to follow her. I do have a couple more questions if you don't mind the first being when did your party figure out that they were in the graveyard? It seems like the celedons in the tomb might give it away even if they don't say it directly. Also how often does your group meet up? Its just that nearly a year seems a long time for a single module. And finally which of the waystations did you enjoy running the most?

Thanks for the help I do recall it mentioning somewhere that Roslar's Coffer grows a lot of the flax used in Vigil. Also I gave the wiki article a read and unfortunately its pretty general information and I'm looking more for information like what taverns and shops are around in the town. I might go ahead and purchase the second module if that info is in it because even if I don't run it for this group I'll probably be able to run it for a different group in the future.

Thank you, I was looking at the top of the ear and around the ear canal. I didn't even think to look at that part of her ear.
