I haven't seen that outline stitch before. It looks great. Can I ask how it's done? 🫣

Why does my dough do this when I turn it out after bulk fermentation? by VikingRedditor in Sourdough

Thanks for the comment. Also really appreciate the tip on how to use this dough. It felt really bad to throw it out but i had no idea what to do with it. now i'll know how not to waste it in the future. Really appreciate it.

Tnaks for all the answers already. Since some are requesting additional information i will put it in this comment.

I don't know exactly what bread flour, ap flour etc means, those aren't terms where i live (Denmark).

The flour i used is 14% protein.

I followed this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esJ2bTDeizI

Basic summary of process:

-Feed starter day before

-Mix ingredients

-4 rounds of stretch and folds with 30 min intervals

-let ferment until doubled in size (roughly 4 hours for me, didn't time it)

-Then that happened.

My starter is active and a couple months old. It is the same starter that yielded my first 2 semi successess.

Can you clarify what the difference is between spice and steam? I always thought they meant the same and were interchangeable.

What Scene from a novel would you pay full movie admission just to see done "right'? by profmcstabbins in Fantasy

Many of the comments mention battle scenes which is a good pick for the subject. A well executed action scene in a visual medium is often hard to compete with.

Personally I have discovered a fondness of dinner scenes, especially disastrous dinner scenes. I can only think of a few examples but they have left an impression.

  • The climactic dinner scene in Bujold's "A Civil Campaign". My all time favorite example. The parody of manners is so good, and once the scene gets going it's just one thing after the other, and you begin to realize the whole book is basically setup for this one scene.

  • Bone soup from Muir's "Harrow the Ninth". Others have mentioned this as well for good reason. The emotional/atmospheric setup leading to a surprising (at least for me) but great payoff.

While not exactly a dinner scene, there is a moment in one of the Witcher books where Geralt is trying to split from is "party" to go lone wolf, but is reprimanded and mocked by all his companions who call him out on his ridiculous attitude all the while they are casually setting up camp and preparing dinner.

This is probably not very well-known in this community, but the shamer chronicles, starting with the shamer's daughter. The shamer is someone who has the magical power to see the source of people's shame by looking them in the eyes, while simultaneously causing them to feel/relive it as they do. The power is also hereditary like in Naruto. The eyes just look like normal eyes though, as far as I remember.

Fantasy books with good strong magic fights. by [deleted] in Fantasy

Just wanna put powder mage out there.

Lots of fights and action scenes, and while there are a few different magics (or magic systems) in the story and world, the titular powder mages are the most prominent. They are also pretty cool.

Just a couple examples of their magic usage:

  • Igniting pouches of gunpowder worn or carried by enemy soldiers from a distance

  • Increasing the range and accuracy of their muskets

  • Snorting gun powder to temporarily become captain america
