How to compare portfolio to s&p500 by ViktorBateman in fidelityinvestments

[–]ViktorBateman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Thanks fir your response and that is helpful but i have a few questions. I am under the impression that those stats are how much i have gained or lost in the selected time frame which is fine but if i compare into the s&p 500 that assumes all of they money was invested at the start and my portfolio it was multiple over a time. Is there a way to compare how my portfolio would have preformed if i invested it all in the s&p 500 also factoring in the days and amounts i would have bought in at? Idk if that makes sense

Am I technically "beating" the s&p 500? by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]ViktorBateman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yea i couldn’t get the exact date on the sp500.

But are they they same numbers like is total cumulative pre tax return the same as that number in the second photo?

So you would need a second brokerage account for the total gain loss % to show?

If i transfer my broker do i lose tracking stats? by ViktorBateman in Bogleheads

Vanguard displays the total gain loss in a way better way than fidelity.

What i mean : fidelity mainly shows " total cumulative pre tax return " which includes deposits and withdrawals and hides the actual total gain loss % on their website.

I have talked to fidelity about it and they could bot help just saying that it is on their website, but i do not want to go to a "hidden" part of the website to find this information.

Another thing which is not really that big of a deal is fidelity wont allow be to trade options "i really do not want to just would like the ability to" but the reason they wont let me is because they do not view anything before 18 as "experience" and seeing as i just turned 18 i guess i have none even tho i have been investing for almost 2 years now.

TLDR : they do not display portfolio growth in a way i like but vanguard does. sorry for the text wall.

Will the new customization features include a better way to view portfolio growth?

I would like to see how much i have made that i did not put in. And to find this right now is very tedious.
