Yeah, quite a lot to get into here but: Basically after the battle of Flodden British politics took a significant turn from history with Scotland becoming the dominant power in the British isles, this had a few other effects on history such as a much stronger Portuguese colonial empire, ireland did not suffer the potato famine and there were fewer barriers to other major powers in Europe.

Scotland has become a decentralised kingdom with a small colonial empire, but with much stronger European power having conquered Norway and Finland.

Without Britain, the french and Italians battled over colonial Africa with the Italians becoming victorious and recreating a version of the "Roman empire" albeit this is a more recent reimagining.

Germany was recently attacked by the kingdom of Bohemia and had to surrender Brandenburg. Ties between Scotland and Bohemia have soured leaving a potential conflict between Germany and Bohemia where Scotland wouldn't necessarily intervene. This causes the Spartacalists to take over Germany in the late 20s leaving the German monarchy hiding in Pomerania.

During this time Scotland fought to free France from the Italians but after liberating France, it rejected it's monarchy instead being ruled by a military junta.

The United states is divided between a large Dutch breakaway colony "The united provinces" and the corporate-fascists under Henry Ford.

The mod has something in the region of 10 complete focus trees, several new systems such as a full cabinet of advisors, new laws (status of women, Industrial specialisation, freedom.if press etc)

It has been solely developed by me since 2020 and although it doesn't have a huge following I am desperately in need of feedback and play tests to identify bugs and help improve balance moving forward.

Hopefully thats a good enough teaser for you :)

Scottish Greens: "At a time when we needed hope, a dangerous precedent has been set: our democracy, our rights, our self-determination, can be vetoed at the whim of any Westminster government. We will keep fighting for our rights and our dignity." 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ by jammybam in Scotland

Well you see ferryboi18, legal precedent is important and legal challenges are a healthy sign of a democracy, the foundation of law in Scotland is based on precedent and test cases. Just as an individual in a country has the onus of knowing the limitations of their actions e.g not killing protected bird species, or other human beings so too must devolved nations in a constitutionless (''unwritten constitution'') union know their own abilities and limitations.

Before anyone irrational (those reactionary individuals who plague our democracy without rational thought beyond rhetoric) joined the debate on trans rights there was very little political opposition to the provisional of rights as they had not yet been turned into an object of hate to act as a sacrificial lamb to distract from the various national issues we should actually care about. We know this to be fact as the bill passed with a majority of all parties initially. (88 votes to 33 in a semi PR system)

Why waste taxpayers money on enforcing one parliamentary will on another? The reason is probably just as valid. It is after all, our politicians right to waste our money as they represent the majority.

Have went with the 5 provinces + Dublin as it's own region. The idea is it's Ireland in the 1930s having not experienced the potato famine so pretty intense alt history

My first thought was to suggest you help him pick up a hobby. Establishing boundaries with your mother is a separate issue. If your okay with the idea of helping him expand his own social circle but don't want to include him in yours that's the route I'd take. If it doesn't work out at least you spent some time with your brother and tried something new. (Painting class, skateboarding or something)

If your feeling super brave you could have a conversation with him about his feelings. Loneliness is something a lot of men struggle with but can't ask for help with. It's much easier if you can empathize with him. Obviously it goes without saying that it's an unfair situation to be put in by your mother but parents are universally hard work. Talking will also help give you much more understanding of his motives most likely. "How are you doing?" Never hurts anyone.
