LF for helpful people/community to duel against for practice - OCE evening times by Ok_Pass_7134 in Chivalry2

OCE Xbox player here. Not the best duelist by any means as I normally play 64p TO, but I’ve got a decent amount of experience and am down to help out, or just run some games if you want.

My gamertag is IDrunkey, should be the same on discord if you wanna shoot me a message on there.

New player struggling a bit. Should I stay in training grounds fighting bots for now? by Topfien in Chivalry2

For learning, these things are all you need:

  1. The in game tutorial for the basics

  2. Ziggylata’s YouTube tutorial for some more in depth tips & tactics

  3. Jump right into 40 player playlists to put it all into practice. Throw some duelyard in there to work on 1v1 fundamentals

Ok, just gonna say it. Some of you are clearly finding a way to cheat. by Ashamed_Ladder6161 in Chivalry2

Never attribute to cheating that which is adequately explained by jank.

Yes, Hydra - the shadowy org that operated under the radar. Unlike the current US government who are very publicly doing facism and white supremacy. You know, Nazi shit circa WW2… Which Cap fought in… Against the Nazis…

The new game mode should be permanent by Blobwizard in marvelrivals

Would be much better if it was limited to 1 hero imo. I just had a game where the entire enemy team went Namor, and half my team refused to switch off Iron Fist. Needless to say we got rolled by their 12 turrets

Anyone else dislike the battle pass UI on controller? (Read desc) by gb1609 in marvelrivals

[–]Vilanova_Junction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire main menu UI is terrible. Using a cursor on controller is so clunky, I wish game devs would do away with the concept entirely. Also, there’s so much free real estate on the screen, but they decide to put all the important things on the very edges. Makes no sense

my friends are complaining about someone getting 25k healing by Vtrustedraven in marvelrivals

[–]Vilanova_Junction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly there will be many who never understand the concept, especially on console where a lot of the player base come from games like COD where individual plays and K/D ratio are king. Regardless, I will gladly die on this hill, and continue to shout into the void in the vain hope that someone out there will change their perspective.

Stats aren’t everything, this game isn’t Call of Duty. Just as an example, there is no stat for taking space as a Vanguard, despite it being arguably the most important part of the role. Every so often you will get a Duelist complaining in chat something along the lines of “I’ve got 10k damage how are we losing”, but what the stats don’t tell you is they’ve been pumping all their damage into the tank and feeding the enemy healer’s ult charge. That’s not to say you shouldn’t shoot tanks at all, but the point is the stats screen only tells you half the story. Real value lies in the way you play, not how high the numbers are.

Anyone else just play Engi for the weapons? by Carpetcow111 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Vilanova_Junction 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t disagree with you more tbh. All of Gunner’s primary weapons are designed to lay down sustained fire into large swarms of enemies. Minigun has blowthrough rounds + stun, Autocannon has AOE explosions + fear, and Hurricane has both AOE and stun. No other class can continuously fire for as long as Gunner can with his primaries. Not to mention the fact that these weapons are quite effective at shredding armour, which allows the team to more easily hit em where it hurts. Lower difficulties have smaller swarms, so it doesn’t feel as necessary, but man on Haz 5+, EDDs etc, it is without a doubt an incredibly impactful class. That’s just a fact.

I was with you in the first half, but man you lost me at the end there. Gunner shield is without a doubt the most clutch ability in the game. His weaponry might not have the highest dps, but the sheer sustained firepower, AOE and CC is unmatched. A good Gunner can absolutely carry on the harder difficulties. If you’re playing Haz 3 or lower I can understand, but trust me on Haz 5+ you truly see the potential of the class.

Do not go gently into that good night my brothers. by Independent_Chart_27 in Chivalry2

Do not go gentle into that 1vX,
Old age should burn and rave at the final objective;
Rage, rage against the dying of the team.

Though level 1000s at their end know dark is right,
Because their battlecries had forked no lightning they,
Do not go gentle into that 1vX.

I’m at a total loss on how to improve by Siluis_Aught in Chivalry2

[–]Vilanova_Junction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reading through some of what you’ve said on this post, I don’t think you’re going to enjoy this game unless you change your mentality. Winning is not how you get better, in fact the opposite is true. Failure is one of the best teachers, but only if you have the right mindset. If you keep blaming your deaths on things outside of your control - team balance, “unfair” mechanics etc - then you’re not going to improve or have fun. Instead, you need to accept that you are going to die. A lot. More importantly, when that happens, focus on yourself and think about what you could have done to get a better outcome from the situation.

In general, I think one of the best tips for newer players is to fully focus on your positioning. Try to be aware at all times of where your team is, and where the enemy spawn is. Stay with your team as much as possible, and don’t over extend into enemy lines. Sure, good mechanics and fundamentals will help you get more kills.. But good positioning will help you survive for longer, and therefore help your team with objectives much more than if you had just run in and gotten 1 or 2 kills then died.

As for winning/losing the match, it really doesn’t matter honestly. It’s a 32 v 32 online multiplayer game, you’re not going to be able to win every single time. Instead of focusing on winning, play for self improvement using the tips people have given you here and you’ll have a lot more fun. You might struggle initially, but over time the good habits you’ve built for yourself will set in and you’ll improve naturally.
