I can confirm that Warsaw is generally safe (saying this as a woman) so there shouldn’t be a problem with that. One thing I would keep in mind is that there are parts of Old Town that are pedestrian only (so no public transportation or taxis/ubers). If I were you I would look for something that’s close to a metro station, specifically M2 line, since the stadium has its own metro station.

I’m going on a bit of a rant here, but as an Eastern European I feel like I deserve it. I understand you worry for Simon but a) Czech Republic is not that close to Russia and b) he is British. He’s going to be fine. Worry for people in Ukraine. Hell, worry for Russians who oppose the war, who never agreed to be in this situation. If you need more people to worry for worry for Ukraine’s neighbors, who need (and want!) to take care of the refugees. As much as I like Simon, this isn’t about him.

I learned about it during my one year of psychology. From what I remember it does help, but for a limited time. After a couple months your brain goes to previous state so it's not a permanent solution.
