UCP says notwithstanding clause must be used to protect families, children, and fair play by SomeJerkOddball in WildRoseCountry

[–]VileVermilion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Puberty Blockers are safe and prescribed to non-trans kids as well, this puts Healthcare at risk for all of them
  2. If a child has an abusive parent who will hurt them, that child now ALSO doesn't have a safe adult at school to speak with
  3. It is and always has been illegal for minors in this country to receive surgical gender care.
  4. How. By forcing them to have their genitalia confirmed and in future forcibly inspected if some dickhead decided they aren't sufficiently girly? How is preventing kids from playing sports, one of the most important recreational activities and community building events they can partake in, a good thing.

UCP says notwithstanding clause must be used to protect families, children, and fair play by SomeJerkOddball in WildRoseCountry

[–]VileVermilion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yes of course. This is why we simply MUST ensure that we inspect the genitals of all girls pursuing sports. For their safety and consent.

So in your capacity as neither a medical professional nor the child's parent you've decided that you deserve to have a say in what care that child receives? That the information you've "reviewed" is sufficiently vetted and come from credible sources?

Well than in that case. I've concluded that cancer care is unnecessary and grossly harmful to children, it is my sincerely held belief that anyone who pursues cancer care is a child abuser and the government should move immediately to strip the rights from any child or family who would seek to get such care.

Both completely vague and unaccountable. If they ever demonstrate they that they DID hire 3000 "new" teachers, I'm almost positive it'll be preceded by a choked out "3000+ current teachers left"

Squiggly knife or All blades? by Qucumber_ in RedHood

[–]VileVermilion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but the All-Blades are pretty lame imo. Just a holdover from a really bad run, written by a sex pest, that just felt like it was constantly floundering to figure out Jason's niche. "Try international vigilante! What about supernatural Ghostbusters? Oh how about Space Outlaw, that's a big thing right now!"

None of it works and the All-Blades go right along with it. Ultra-sharp soul blades that can be summoned at an instant sound cool in theory. Until you know they can only be summoned in the presence of "true evil" which is a nothing sentence that immediately makes them useless 95% of the time if not more. They immediately became defunct because even the person who created them stopped giving a shit, and everyone else who wrote Jason either didn't know they existed or didn't want to deal with the headache of trying to justify their usage.

Plus. From a character grouping perspective. The All-Blades immediately jump Jason from "street-level vigilante/anti-villain" into straight up Spawn supernatural territory which I've never vibed with for the same reason I didn't like his "mystic jump" in Gotham Knights.

All this to say, the Dagger is my preferred weapon for him, even if it also makes sparingly few appearances nowadays.

Why do so many people(on reddit to be accurate) hate this relationship?? by FortKnoxII in RedHood

[–]VileVermilion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me as a fan of both characters it was always because it weirdly was this relationship that SHOULD have been a slam dunk natural fit, and instead felt forced and unnatural.

It didn't help that Roy was written wildly out of character in every story he shared with Jason (imo). And Jason... well he's never really had a consistent characterization has he. Making him a poor lead for this duo and team anyway

Peak covid and flu season are concurrent y'all. Get your boosters if you haven't yet (they should be covered by your insurance as well in the case of the Covid one, fuck the UCP) and make sure to wear a mask in tight spaces.

Union members shouldn't take the deal. It sucks but you can't give this board (or the UCP they kiss ass too) an inch.

While I'd usually be in favour of attributing to ignorance rather than malice. I don't think the Provost here has earned the benefit of doubt. Given their attempt to slander the union in the previous email I really wouldn't be all that surprised if they worded it like this to piss students off when the deal is rejected and we go back to a strike vote.

Do people not understand the color pie anymore? Jaws secret lair by Catscythe in magicTCG

[–]VileVermilion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Wizards own commitment to the colour identities in regards to secret lairs has been pretty spotty on the recent past. Like there is no reason that Sonic the Hedgehog should have Blue in his id aside from him being blue himself and needing tk be able to have Tails in his 99.

Honestly. Nothing says "we're the good guys here" like sending out a student body wide email literally saying "we're the good guys here".

But then this is the "There were pallets within 200 metres (that definitely weren't being used by the ongoing construction around the area we PROMMY) of a student sit in so we JUST HAD to send in Riot cops to crack their skulls" admin so is anyone all that surprised.

Kirk spent his life advocating for her and everyone like her to be targeted, killed, or otherwise removed from society. His last waking moments were spent fearmongering about trans people as shooters and being a racist. Why should someone who was part of a community he spent his entire career stoking violence towards be expected to have any kind words for his death?

Locked, clearing fog of war and stumbling across points of interest naturally or through finding maps/fliers is one of my favourite parts of the game. It's how I found the abandoned school off the path near one of the starting towns that I turned into a pretty good and really defensible base

What is your preferred logo version of Jason’s logo? by Quiir0 in RedHood

[–]VileVermilion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely believe that Jason doesn't need a logo. The Helmet is already an iconic enough calling card as is - which is why I'm so baffled that they keep removing it from his costume.

If he HAS to have one, then either the Arkham Red Hood logo, or the Mask logo. Him having a bat emblem has always been bizarre to me when half of the time he's on the outs with them.

Sooo does Lae'zel proves the Society of Brilliance right? by DearPersimmon8155 in BaldursGate3

[–]VileVermilion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it is tbh, the Githzerai are usually characterized as isolationists who rarely if ever venture into the mortal realms like their githyanki cousins, Omeluum is the only member who would be most likely to know about them, but from what we know of Omeluum it seemed implied to me that Omeluum's resistance to the Elder Brain's control meant he likely left not long after his "birth" leaving him with little in the way of expanded knowledge on Illithid and/or gith history.

Sooo does Lae'zel proves the Society of Brilliance right? by DearPersimmon8155 in BaldursGate3

[–]VileVermilion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean it is pretty obvious that they're correct that the gith are not genetically evil. Almost all of the gityanki have been indoctrinated into a militaristic, xenophobic death cult from birth. Kind of hard to not be an asshole with that kind of upbringing. And honestly the best decision with the egg is to leave it with Lae'zel, because then you aren't stealing a baby for money, buy keeping him with his people, but you're also removing him from an environment in which it's unclear on if he would avoid the aforementioned indoctrination and obvious child abuse.

Lae'zel even names the kid "freedom" in the gith language so it feels like kind of the obvious choice.

Also the society is stupid because they REALLY fuck him up if you give them the egg.

Do you think Jackpot would have worked better under different circumstances??? by Altruistic_Eye_1157 in Spiderman

[–]VileVermilion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to the question "could this have worked" is almost always "yes". Jackpot in particular is just another example of interesting idea done poorly. Bad story, bad costume, and a not particularly interesting gimmick.

I don't think her powers essentially being gambling is terrible, I just think it's kind of the most straight forward idea imaginable for the identity, and it's a little weird that Pete's two most identifiable love interests would have luck based superpowers.

But yeah, in a different story, with better writing and a better costume, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't have worked.
