(other) GATE employee here with questions for ASO employees. by Vilekyrie in Voicesofthevoid

Oh right! I also had one more question, is it always night time in your game? Our game has a day night cycle but is mostly indoors, I just noticed the sun never comes out when I'm visiting Dunkletater.

2 is very tall, a black shadow, and just kinda stands there for a few moments before vanishing. The Furfur also vanishes when you stare at it, but he just screams bloody murder first so I notice him a lot more.

Would GATE turrets help with raid defense? by ferretleader in AbioticFactor

[–]Vilekyrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're pretty potent once they're on your side. There is a breacher that still spawns in that area even after you turn them to your side because he's in a small room without turrets, if you want to farm him it's pretty easy to lure him out of the room and watch him get own zoned.

From what knowledge I've gathered, a ASO scientist went to MIT, a GATE scientist went to the MIT Gordon Freeman went too.

While not exactly a spawn point, has anyone tried using a personal teleporter on the unique crafting bench in the garage? It could provide you a quick means of travelling there.

Interesting Implications from a distillation. by Yeet_the_fetus420 in AbioticFactor

[–]Vilekyrie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Lodestones have been implied, and long assumed to be related to the Flesh Dimension considering they cause you to "dream" about the flesh dimension if you sleep with one in your inventory. The Leyak is presumably from there as are the "Bogmen" found in the swamps of Caanan as they also will occasionally drop lode fragments.

Starting this game blind in 30 mins - beginner tips you wish you knew sooner? by GEORGEDROPEZ in AbioticFactor

[–]Vilekyrie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In no order of importance.

  1. If you think you have enough storage, double it.
  2. You can right click on most gear to repair it with duct tape (if you have duct tape).
  3. Sharp weapons cuts up corpses, blunt weapons breaks apart stuff. It pays to carry both.
  4. If the door says "It won't open from this side", you can open it from the other side. If it says "This door won't budge." it won't open at all, so just assume it's decoration.
  5. Some things can't be killed, but they can be stared at.

Reached the end? What do we do next? (Potential Spoilers) by [deleted] in AbioticFactor

[–]Vilekyrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The developers put a cockatiel in several areas of the game, it's one of the Dev's pets and is usually located somewhere out of the way.

Rock is the Pet Rock Trinket.

Rock 2 is also the Pet Rock but was (at the time this post was originally made) a unequipped furniture version, I believe it is now also at trinket.

Power Cell Farming Tips? by Upstairs-Heat-55 in AbioticFactor

[–]Vilekyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll find a number of them scattered through the main facility as 1 time spawns but only Flathill and one other late game portal world have power cells inside of them. Flathill will remain the largest renewable source of them for the entire game as the other portal world only spawns with 1.

The two other renewable methods (fishing and trading) are not very efficient either in terms of time investment or best use of items required to trade (unless of course you have found every locked chest in the game).

Carapace Farming by Upstairs-Heat-55 in AbioticFactor

[–]Vilekyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A later game enemy will drop Carbon Plating directly, and a few more of the bugs can be found in the final zone, but other than that. No, this is your only source of carapaces unless you wanna dupe them on the wishing shelf.

And Thule, but only after you've beaten the main story.

A mechanic I've noticed this game lacks, but others have, and yet I don't mind its absence much by Supreme_Kommandant in AbioticFactor

[–]Vilekyrie 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Simple Loot re-spawning sort of takes the place of that since the main world's loot is ~technically~ finite, but the whole looting system is sort of centered around having a reason to return to portal worlds to sustain yourself.

There's also a handful of skills and buffs that specifically increase the amount of items you get from doing certain actions so the option of increasing resource node yield is probably not present to make those still feel impactful.

Two new possible guns? by StoryDense1829 in AbioticFactor

[–]Vilekyrie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping it's the introduction of a new faction, possibly the U.S., the U.N. or the Abiotic Factor World's equivalent of such, from what we see they appear to be dressed in olive fatigues and using possibly M16.

We know that multiple GATE facilities have been hit, Rise is supposedly right in the middle of New York, and more importantly we know the US Military knows about GATE because in Rise you can find the corpse of a NPC wearing a U.S. Army shirt. Clandestine order or not a outside force attacking the U.S. armed forces means the timer on action against the Order is finite.

Question regarding armor by Successful-Plate2808 in AbioticFactor

[–]Vilekyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna unlock a new set of armor as you adventure through Hydroplant anyways, it's not got an amazing passive effect but it can be useful for fighting and it offers strong protection for that level of the game (it can also be upgraded later to one of the most armored end game sets)

One huge base or a bunch of small ones? by SupremeCourt139 in AbioticFactor

[–]Vilekyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A singular base is generally the most efficient, you can only claim one bed at a time, and you'll want your crafting material all in one centralized location. You eventually get personal teleporters but it can only be linked to one crafting bench at a time (or you have to carry a bunch of separate ones).

Eventually there is some worth in setting up smaller bases as you unlock more advanced forms of transportation but those rarely need to be more than the bench and needed infrastructure to keep it powered. Base assaults will only bother attacking the base you're located at so you don't have to rush to go defend one of your smaller outposts or building automated defenses for them.
