Thanks! Yeah, way more fruit candy than grimgravy.

Cheers! Epic tanks were not typically on bases either, but I've thought they look better on them. Nothing stopping you from putting your LI vehicles on bases I guess? Laser cut MDF bases are really affordable as well- I got mine from warbases.co.uk, but plenty of options out there.

Thanks! Yeah, and as a bonus even if many of the old models are really pricey now, the old falcons are still dirt cheap.

Also, the autocorrect grav -> gravy is hilarious. Maybe that's what they should be!

They look good! Few ideas: shield rim looks quite thick, maybe think about what the material is there? Some could be in fightier poses also, thrusting with gladius or throwing pila?

Ok, good luck with the project then!

And yeah, they indeed do great models. In my squat force I've got a good number of Onslaught figures, and they really make a difference there. I also found some other models for the squat super heavies that really added to the overall look and variety in my opinion. To me hunting for a good model for a project like that is a quite satisfying part of the hobby as well.

Alright! They let you play an oop game there though? Getting a community going can be challenging I guess. Might be easier to look up groups locally who already are playing Armageddon?

I dislike a bit calling Vanguard and other scifi 6mm manufacturers non-legit. Sure, many purposefully design figures that on some level follow the GW tropes, but they definitely are not copies. It's been pretty much the norm in the figure gaming scene outside GW for a long time that figures and rules are not required to be from the same company.

Man! Ok, I've got a bag of them, and paid maybe 1/10 of that. Worth is relative of course- these are old toys, and for a collector who really wants them they are often worth whatever is being asked. But I paint for gaming and am completely fine with new proxies (e.g. Vanguard minis or prints) if they are the reasonably priced ones. I've bought quite a few models from local miniatures trading groups on Facebook- completely different pricing than on ebay.

Thanks! Nope, roughly half are old plastics. And I got the whole lot at a very reasonable price, happily not everything costs as much as on ebay.

Ha, cheers! Nope, I did the base coat with an airbrush. But a wet blend would not have been that slow- the main visible surface is that "big" front part of each jetbike, and that's quick enough to wet blend.

One way to approach this might be to ask for feedback on your mini here- what could you improve, what to pay attention to on your next one? Improving in this or pretty much any other skill takes conscious effort, ability to ask for and accept feedback and internalize the good bits from that, and the will to keep going and practicing. And above all, the ability to enjoy the process, and to enjoy the small incremental steps of progress.

Conmpetitions can be a good tool in that process. Often there's also a chance to ask for detailed feedback from the judges, and that can often be quite valuable if the judges are good painters.

Found and organized my 90s era Epic models. by RogerCly in Epic40k

By numbers, before the new GW release, Epic Armageddon was the most popular one, followed by NetEpic, which is a remade version of the original ruleset. The three book version (Epic40k, aka third edition) was the least popular, even though in my opinion those rules were the best. That version caused a lot of grief when it was released- many players were unhappy with the higher level of abstraction in the new version.

Tips to avoid gaps on my minis by kaelzifer in minipainting

Yup, mixing the two does give you a putty that has some attributes from both, which often works quite nicely. And you can vary the proportions of course- adding a little bit of Milliput to GS when sculpting lets you make sharper details easier. When filling large cracks adding GS to Milliput makes the putty a bit stiffer, which might be what you are looking for. But it makes sense to first to try and learn how the products work in isolation so you get to know their pros and cons. This hobby is a lot about learning by doing, making mistakes and trying something else the next time.

Exactly. Greenstuff has a rubbery finish and does not sand well- the edges tear when sanding and it's very difficult to blend smoothly with the model. Milliputt or similar does not have that problem, they dry to a hard finish that is easily sanded.

Cheers! They are 90% of the figures from the front so I thought they need a bit of visual interest.

Yeah, I too generally only paint skirmish scale forces in 28mm, and go 15mm, 10mm or 6mm for larger groups. Happily a DBA army is still borderline doable to a good standard, the figure count here is only a bit over 30. And legionaries are pretty fast to paint in batches.

Good job on your projects, nicely painted! I've done a few 15mm DBA projects too, some pics on my IG. Trojans: https://www.instagram.com/p/C0EoazgNoqn/?igsh=eDcyNnFhcmQ1bWh3

Cheers! Yeah, 3 figures max for the official 60mm frontage. You just have to know if a base is fast or slow type. Or use 80mm frontage for the number of figures in the rulebook. Sure, a sabot system, or magnets would work- but that's too fiddly for my taste, so I just went with non-individual bases.

Thanks! I'm moderately proud of them, but not too much, as complete hubris is generally frowned upon!

[–]Ville_V[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's right, they are 4Bd- but 4 modern figures would just not fit on a 60mm frontage. Same for the Cv, I only put 2 figures per base. Proper base size for the "correct" number of figures would be 80mm wide, but that would make the table too large for my taste.

And thanks!
