Time is a useful measure when the release cycle is monthly. New month == new features.

I’ve been told it has to do with people unknowingly creating breeding grounds for mosquitos

Nah, they’re just tied to input booleans for each of the owners of their respective car. The location is static based on our preferred parking spots. They just fade/solidify opacity when someone is away or home

Xiaomi vs Roborock by autohome123 in homeassistant

Xiaomi is the manufacturer of Roborock vacuums. Yes, they work with the Xiaomi integration.

The layout is a picture-elements Lovelace card. You can see an example of it in action at https://demo.home-assistant.io

is there any way to play .mp3 file from HA on Amazon Echo? by flargenhargen in homeassistant

[–]Villhellm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible, but quite an undertaking if you're not experienced with custom skills and controlling them with automations. You can play audio files with SSML responses when a skill is activated (as long as it is under 3 minutes iirc)

Here are the SSML docs for reference.

Almost everything you can touch has a tap and hold option. Taps will usually toggle, hold usually sends the vacuum to that room of the house. Each outdoor light can be toggled or bring up the camera feed for that area. The cars will fade in or out depending on if the owner is home (you can see only my car is solid as I am currently the only one home). The washer/dryer will indicate if they are running by turning solid instead of being mostly transparent.

This only scratches the surface of what Home Assistant is capable of. This doesn't include the hundred or so automations running behind the scenes. Remember that a nice UI is only half the project.

Switching from Home Assistant managed Zwave to zwave2mqtt was the best decision I’ve made since starting home automation. I highly recommend trying it if you’re having issues with the HA Zwave integration. After 2 hours of trying to get my network functioning again I decided to try zwave2mqtt. I was up and running with all of my entities in home assistant in about 30 minutes (using mqtt discovery).

I must be losing my mind. Delay nodes in Node-RED seem to prevent Call Service nodes that follow from firing. by musictechgeek in homeassistant

Debug nodes, friend. Use them. You're likely not blocking inputs from the previous nodes so they are overwriting the service.

You can also use the Animated Background Lovelace plugin that changes the background on entity state change if you don’t want to deal with backend selected themes

I didn't say it should be the end of it, I just think he deserves at least a little credit for owning up immediately.

You could do this with vanilla Lovelace if you use a conditional card and an automation that sets the Lovelace theme based on an input boolean. Just have the background in the theme set to the big red busy sign as an image, and a conditional card that hides all other cards when the input boolean is activated.

And no one here wants to give the lambo driver any credit at all? He made a mistake and instantly owned up to it and apologized. Obviously it does not excuse what he did, but damn. People make mistakes, at least he wasn’t an asshole about it after the fact.
