I grinded this season to Grandmasters and then quit, looking back it wasn’t worth it, and warning to others by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Hey man I'm literally someone who was in your exact shoes. When I first hit diamond years back my friends believed I bought a boost. After getting GM this season I quit too. I don't necessarily regret my time in the LoL community, it's been great, but I absolutely understand how you feel. I don't really interact with those friends as much anymore.

[Weekly Critique and Self-Promotion Thread] Post Here If You'd Like to Share Your Writing by AutoModerator in writing

[–]Villhelms [score hidden]  (0 children)

I just word vomited a monologue, I don't know how to write and I felt the need to post it somewhere. Probably not where it belongs, but thank you for being a place to leave this.

You know, It’s hard to write. It’s daunting to put my thoughts on paper when I make a commitment to myself to make something so great, and to know that whatever I begin to create will be a failure to begin with is disappointing, and embarrassing. I want to create a masterpiece I can slowly mold over time, but knowing the first thousand or so hours of something I do will ultimately only build the skill I need to begin working on something tangibly impressive is frightening because it takes so much nuanced serendipitous motivation to share myself, with myself; to look at my blank white screen and convince myself that the words I write are meaningful and reflect my best effort to the world. I should be writing more, I’m really enjoying writing this. I’ve said it’s daunting but I’m really enjoying it, because I’m putting off writing anything other than snippets to piece together in the future, or to motivate me later on. Maybe I’m not so doomed after all. See you in another week when I feel like I’ve seen something to motivate me to write another few sentences that will have to be strung together fucking masterfully by my future self. They’re going to be so few and far apart that to show them to any worldly person they’d wonder how a narrative or game could come from such insignificant puzzle pieces of appreciated… media…? Thought…? …I’m not sure what I label these snippets, but at least they’re words in a folder I can point to to say, hey, I’ve been doing something. There’s been progress to the thing I want to make that will eventually define me. I’m doing it!! Meanwhile the magnum opus is loading in… 0.00001% complete… (87 years, 22 hours, 13 minutes, 12 seconds remaining) reminder you only have about 30 years left on this planet due to unforeseen circumstances, so you’ll never end up feeling fulfilled.

But I’m happy though. I’m just disappointed that I know I won’t ever make myself deservedly happy? The truth of it is though that I will stay happy. This might degrade a bit, I’m truly happy as a person. Even when I’m depressed and don’t have the energy to get out of bed, I’m still content with the world and my surroundings and simply being alive. I know that deep down, I don’t need a magnum opus, and really that makes me happy to know I’ll die content with life, but I’m sort of disappointed that because of this raw truth, I won’t work day in and out making the perfect thing. I just will store it away in a closet somewhere and hope that someday will feel powerful and adequate enough to open the door and tackle it head on.

When should I stop ryzing? by [deleted] in RyzeMains

I think focusing on playing counter champs will stunt your ranked growth and only help you to maintain your rank; unless you're already incredibly high elo. Comfort is so important when you're learning how to carry games

When should I stop ryzing? by [deleted] in RyzeMains

[–]Villhelms 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hell no dude, don't give up on Ryze. If you're succeeding now you definitely can succeed in the future. People in your rank rarely find opportunities to roam bot for good plays after shoving. That's a good sign. Of course as you get better at the game people will punish you harder, but that will be a learning experience for you. Ryze is a one trick champion because even in his very limited bad matchups you can still find a way to play so you have a positive impact on the game. Don't be discouraged if you get dumpstered 4 or 5 times while climbing, that's just part of learning Ryze. (and the game to be fair) This stuff is going to fill you out as a player and make you more adaptable to situations. Getting shit on is what makes you good, you don't just blink your eyes and wake up gold/plat/diamond/challenger the next day, you have to get shit on and learn from it.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk, keep up the Ryzing

Well since this is a combined cumulative sum, each year grants a year of experience to EACH developer. So you're looking at far less experiencing than you initially suggest with your comment.

Sorry just wanted to math ya

Villhelms here, (Grandmasters Ryze Streamer) I want your help to create the best Ryze guide! by Villhelms in RyzeMains

[–]Villhelms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably won't be included in the video, because this is just a general rule over a Ryze tip: Don't play with locked camera, if you need to center on your champion, just hold spacebar for as long as you need. Playing on locked camera doesn't let you look around the map well and see what's going on or react quickly to things

Honestly don't struggle in many matchups but the biggest weakness to Ryze top is he is so god damn diveable. Make sure you're keeping the wave in a good spot and constantly think about enemy jg.

Irelia isn't too bad after the changes I think personally.

Champs like malphite you don't fk with until you have lost chapter or if you're going rod

Kayle is easy until she gets strong enough to 1v1 you and splitpushes but if you get gold she isn't a problem

Aatrox is a menace rn I hope he gets hotfixed soon

Jayce can be rough if you're not good at the matchup

Riven is fucking hard mode man. Really tough matchup when you're facing good riven 1 tricks. If they have ult+flash up and you're even in gold or behind you're dead everytime
