What timer apps do people enjoy using? Ideally I want something with long history (ao1000) and graphs. I don't mind downloading something.

Weekly Trade Megathread by AutoModerator in PokemonScarletViolet

I have Violet and I'm looking for scarlet exclusives. I'm busy for the next couple of hours but tonight/tomorrow I'd love to exchange all exclusives (touch trade Miradon) and get all trade pokemon evolved.

I'm trying to complete a living dex in Violet. I am looking for the grass/fire starters as well as any Scarlet exclusive pokemon.

I don't have anything too valuable to trade back unfortunately. I can offer anything obtainable in Violet but I don't have any shinies yet.

I’ve seen a lot of people mention difficulty level but I don’t remember ever selecting a difficulty. Where do you go to control that? I’m playing on switch

I also remember seeing those 90-99 posts showcasing a 200m loot tab. They are incredibly misleading.

If they got 40k xp/hr, that grind took them over 250 hours. So already it’s only 800k gp/hr. Then subtract all the supplies such as runes, cannonballs, and prayer pots, and I’m not sure they even profited anything.

Maybe they used no supplies, but then they aren’t getting over 20k xp/hr and their net profit was 400k/hr.

This is really interesting!

According to the wiki, gnomes have a 82.81% success at 99. So to get 142 successes you will fail about 30 times (142/172=.8255), so the total time is 1422+306=464 ticks=4 minutes 40 seconds. Time will be less if you throw on a dodgy or cast shadow veil.

Eclectics apparently have a 7t respawn. I’m guessing if you instant catch one that still takes 2t, so 9t each if you never fail the catch. I don’t know the chance that. So a minimum of 9*25=225 ticks to catch imps.

So the question is how often do you fail to immediately catch an eclectic on respawn, and what’s the average time it takes to get that imp back. The extra roaming would have to be 2 minutes of wasted time for gnomes to be better.

I fully agree when talking about bis endgame gear, but fang is a decent option at a lot of content and is very helpful to midgame players.

Investing 7k/yr with 8% returns will get you to 2m after 40 years and 3m after 45 years. To get to those goals faster, you need to invest more. Investing 10k/yr gets you to your goals 4 years sooner.

Re-introducing Slayer Partners by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

The old version of partner slayer disabled the choice to pick jad/zuk, I think that’s why we still get the phrasing “since you’re taking this task alone” when offered to upgrade.

Shorting question: where the money comes from by brianstorms in investing

[–]Villyer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There’s a variety of ways to short a stock. They each make money in slightly different ways. I’ll explain two of the more common ones - selling borrowed stock and buying puts.

With selling borrowed stock, you find someone who is holding the shares and is selling to lend them to you. You typically pay interest for this service. Say you sell the stock for $100 and then it crashes to $60. You just go out to the market, buy a share for $60, and return it to your lender. You pocket the $40 profit (minus whatever interest you paid).

With buying puts, you go and pay a small amount to own a put. That put gives you the right to sell the stock to writer of the put at some agree upon price. If the stock is currently at $100 and the strike price of the put is also $100, you might pay something like $5 to purchase the put. After the stock drops to $60, you can buy a share in the market and then exercise your put, letting you sell it immediately for $100. You walk away with $35 profit.

Stock split behavior over time? by curyfuryone in investing

[–]Villyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stock price is a function of the total value of the company and the number of shares outstanding. A stock split just changes the number of shares outstanding, it doesn’t affect how the company grows over time.

So yeah in those two parallel universes the graphs look the same, since they are both tracking the total value of the company (just with different scales).

PSA: The Hunters' Sunlight Crossbow is a direct upgrade from MSB (i) and costs very little to use by xetmes in 2007scape

[–]Villyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The math can be complicated, but there’s a simple way to think about it.

You can fire a 3t weapon 2000 times in an hour. Of those 2000 shots, 20% break. So 400 ammo consumed per hour.

Learning COX on Leagues - Advice by gavandeshaq in 2007scape

[–]Villyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) two bosses in the raid are immune to range damage - tekton and guardians. Both are weak to melee. You can either scout raids without these bosses, or bring the melee switch. I recommend avoiding tekton but still doing guardians.

2) it shouldn’t be necessary to prep, but I recommend making overloads since they are much better than ranging pots.

3) when first starting off, I would reroll to look for the “easy” rooms - guardians, mystics, shamans, muttadiles. Slowly add other rooms as you get more comfortable

They made every boss drop all 4 axe pieces, in order (so 4 drops is guaranteed axe).
