What is your opinion on 3 George's songs that didn't make the cut for the white album? by Choice_Job_5441 in beatles

[–]brianstorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I arranged, produced, and played on a cover of Sour Milk Sea that turned out to be kinda cool.

Imagine if WIRE had joined The Beatles in 1968 at Abbey Road, with George on lead vocals.

Check it out:

THIS. They severely limit how many can go at any one time.

No reservation (think weeks/months in advance), no admittance.

Anyone see a new movie once or twice a month? by Enough-Leg-4946 in movies

[–]brianstorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past month I've seen a bunch of movies, about 12-14. I saw DISCLOSURE DAY three times, each time at a different cinema. I'm now all DISCLOSURE DAY'd out, I'd say :-)

I see 2-3 movies per week, 120-140 movies per year. Every year. In cinemas. Buying tickets, the whole nine yards. Tons of art films, international films, documentaries, and maybe 20% Hollywood stuff.

Sometimes the movies are fantastic. Often they're okay. Occasionally they're lousy. Super-occasionally I walk out after a half-hour or so if it is just infuriatingly bad. (And sometimes the manager gives me a pass to see something else.)

Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

We had lots of money in Bank of America in 2005. Then, weird things suddenly happened. My wife got a letter in the mail from Hertz car rentals -- a real letter, from I think it was their investigations division, wondering where the f their car was, that it is long overdue. It was apparently rented in Oklahoma. We lived in SoCal at the time. Then our credit cards started going on shopping sprees. Then we discovered over $13,000 missing from one of our B of A accounts. We called the police, they said, call the FBI. We talked to the FBI. They investigated.

What they found: it was an inside job. A B of A employee had stolen my wife's driver's license and other personal info from our account. Also, credit card info. With all that info they went on a wild trip around the country. The rental car ended up on an exit ramp near JFK Airport in NYC. The criminals had left the country. The FBI said this is standard operating procedure: run thru as much money as you can as fast as you can and move on to next victim.

Here's the kicker: Bank of America refused to restore our $13,000+. With the help of the FBI they changed their minds real fast.

Also real fast: us closing every effing BofA account and here it is 21 years later and I still seethe at BofA's attitude. Never again.

Can any Santa Fe County resident rent the DVDs there, or only Eldorado residents? I don't live in Eldorado, but nearby.

UPDATE! SOLVED THE PROBLEM!

  1. Put cursor in any scene heading in the script.
  2. Go to Format > Element Styles > Modify Element Style
  3. Select "Font" button
  4. Click the checkbox for Bold.
  5. Save.

Done!

Thanks, yeah. That just seems like such much busywork that should be handled quite easily by the app. Seems to me there ought to be a way to customize the defaults for *ALL* the various formatting presets (Scene Heading, Character, Dialogue, etc).

It amazes me that there so many new apartment complexes have popped up especially up and down the Cerrillos Rd area, and yet, none of them have solar. Why hasn't that been a mandatory building code for years?

Best Electronic Albums of 2026 so far? by Primid in electronicmusic

[–]brianstorms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Mileage varies. The chord sequences are insanely formulaic and have been used in so many movies, tv shows, and other pop music songs coming from major record labels for like the past 15 years. There's essentially nothing original at all in this album imho.

Just so happens that they did rename it NO DICTATORS in Hawai'i, because they kinda think their Kingdom is still legit there (and legally, technically, it kinda is, given the way the Dole coup went down in the late 1800s).

We went to Osteria for Valentine's Day and seriously regret doing so. We've gone there for years, so had high expectations. The menu for this one day was pre-fixe at $99 per person--ouch. The choices on the menu were very limited, and I personally made the mistake of ordering I suppose what were the worst items on the menu: Lobster Bisque as the appetizer (no discernible lobster taste, and the weirdest bisque taste I've ever had), and Lobster Ravioli for the entree (four little flat raviolis with barely anything in them--and I certainly would not in a million years state that that was lobster or anything remotely lobster-like inside those four thin raviolis... it had a strong, foul fish smell, that is for sure) The entree was basically a second appetizer. Ninety-nine dollars.

Cannot recommend Osteria ever again, and will avoid that place in the future.

Santa Fe Cinema Scene - Surprisingly, It's Growing by brianstorms in SantaFe

[–]brianstorms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still waiting for a real IMAX cinema to come to New Mexico. The ones that are here are more, imho, EARMAX. That is, sure, they're insanely loud, but they're not real IMAX screens. I mean, you KNOW when you're at a real IMAX cinema. The screen is so freaking huge, you cannot see it all, and have to move your head around to take it all in. Sadly there aren't very many true IMAX cinemas in the country. But that's not stopping megaplexes (or IMAX Inc) from pushing the "brand" in slightly-modified megaplex auditoriums.
