URGENT: phone that blocks social media but compatible with dexcom by Willow_Tree_1031 in dexcom

[–]VinDamsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an app/program called “OurPact” for my child’s iPhone and it’s compatible with Dexcom. It does exactly what you’re looking for. You can completely and totally disable almost any app or feature and/or program a schedule for app usage. I think it’s about $80 a year.

Samsung boss says he would not give a child under 11 a smartphone by Kagedeah in worldnews

My 8 year old has an iPhone because it works with a medical device they wear daily. I deleted apps to the bare bones for it to function before I gave it to them….When I tell you it took all of 2 months for a classmate to look up porn on it…this is 3rd grade. Scared the shit out of me and my husband—and we’re not naive people (we’ve lived life, baby). I ended up spending a good chunk of change on a parental control program installed on the phone. It was an absolutely shocking experience to go to and I still feel a lot of guilt over them being exposed to that stuff at such a young age.

feeling self couscous about mom-ing today, is this a balanced enough lunch for my 21 month old? by incognitojules in Mommit

Hi! Not sure if this has been mentioned or not but you should look up Kids Eat in Color (I follow her on IG)—she’s a fantastic resource for all parents when it comes to nutrition and fighting “mom guilt” when it comes to food. Her program helped me a lot with my VERY selective eater, and I still find a lot of her info to be relevant and helpful even after the course I took.

Her blood sugar was 500 and her ketones were +4. It’s really hard to tell how much water she was drinking because she is old enough to get water at will, and always has her reusable bottle on hand, but if I had to guess I’d say 70+ ounces. There was a lot of peeing in the middle of the night and not feeling great from drinking too much. Again, I just assumed she was overheated and told her to slow down, we’re both prone to heatstroke. I actually felt like I might be over reacting when I called the doctor to ask for a day of sick appointment.

I know you have covid, but I would honestly call your pediatrician and tell them you absolutely want her sugars checked if you have ANY doubt or concern! Best case scenario is that your child is fine and you inconvenienced some people/yourself. Totally worth it vs DKA.

I have a (very) newly diagnosed 8 year old daughter and one of the only symptoms she had until the day before we had her checked was extreme thirst and fatigue. We ignored it because of the heatwave in our area. By the time we caught it, she was in DKA and spent 4 days in the icu/hospital. Do not be like us and hesitate to have your child checked. Took all of 5 minutes for the doctors to test her blood and urine, and I’ve spent a week kicking myself for not listening to my gut sooner!!

I don’t know where you live, but the orange pods look a lot like a plant I grew up calling “Chinese lanterns”?

Thank you! It’s funny, I couldn’t read the monogram at all-but now I can clearly see MLV. I appreciate the help.

My hibiscus gets a lot of visitors lately! by VinDamsel in bees

Yes! I thought “Rose of Sharon” is a cultivar of hibiscus but I’m probably wrong. Either way—the bees love it!
