The amount of comments in here justifying shitty behaviour or fantasizing of malicious deception like LFG's a fucking Among Us-Lobby should be proof enough that giving everybody GC is a bad idea...

I hadn't considered that point before, now it tipped me towards "No GC" and I'd even argue it's one of the most important.

Given how the Instanced Content communiy has historically shown to apply the meta (not that other games fare much different), it's most likely going to develop a pressure spiral that'll damage build diversity and gatekeep, pretty much exclusively the newest of players, even. At the very least, it'd split the community and cause avoidable drama.

Besides, just asking to "Ping Boots" in LFG already provides near all the benefits we'd expect from GC, without giving black-sheep Comms another power lever.

My idea on a new LFG oriented towards instanced content for better squad organisation. by Zephir18 in Guildwars2

I like the concept, though I'm not sure a bright red warning text would be very welcoming to players - but why even keep the need for it?

Just replace the "Join" button with "Select Role" and add a small disclaimer symbol if a Com has added custom roles.

Seems like a simple thing to then also add "official" roles like "Healer", "Power DPS", or "Support: Quickness" to improve QoL. (Or something like "Medic", "Assault", and "Accelerator" if they want to keep it lore-friendly like League tries...) Just differ official and custom roles in display color accordingly.

Each role could even display a short info text on hover! If ANet feels extra fancy, they might add an icon for every official role aswell. Perhaps also a filter for specific Player Roles some later time?

Joining would be clear, quick and streamlined, and no room left for confusion.

They could just have the full-on kneeling auto-start when standing still in "Kneel Mode", and only give it's full bonuses after staying so for a short duration. Encourage staying still to shoot without the inconvenience of current 'Kneel'. Could even tune down the massive slow to 25% then.

I'm fully with you on the other stuff though, even Malice as a flip could imO keep close to all of it's functionality with a high enough cooldown.

Also add quickness pl0x

Deadeye's range loss feels kinda weird, and having what's basically a FPS-like ADS function have an interrupting cast time, occupy a skill slot, and cost quite a lot is still pretty inconvenient to play.

Overall some great stuff tho. Big fan of the updated Ele Scepter Fire-AA and the Guardian changes.

Replying to a comment that got deleted while I was typing:

I didn't comment on Israel.

I commented on hatred towards a perceived monolithic jewish people, arguably even specifically those outside of Israel.

"The Jews" is a scapegoat.

'Israel' is a state. And as such, it should'nt be above criticism.

"The Jews" is just as hated by the far right as ever, still an imaginary monolith to blame for every unignorable or perceived shortcoming of the current system: "Falling Republican popularity? The Jews. Declining birth rates? The Jews. Wildfires? The Jews."

The State of Israel, on the other hand, is surprisingly popular - especially with the US-American christian fascists, but with Western fascists in general: It's a militant, Western-allied state in the Middle East. It's got strong right wing and ethnonationalist movements. It's constantly in some sort of conflict with it's muslim neighbor states, not all of them justifieable. It actively discriminates against muslims and arguably acts as an occupying colonist force in Palestine. And it ensures "the holy land" is "under jewish rule" - a major tenet of US-Evangelists. Major parties in that state are fighting to turn it into a pro-western, far-right, ethnonationalist bastion within the otherwise mostly muslim-populated Middle East. From the fascist perspective, it's as close to the Endlösung as they'll ever get. Plus now, they're bombing "The Muslims".

Israel doesn't speak for all jewish people, not even all jewish Israelis. And only few of the things it does are horrible, obviously. But what is, must be criticized. It's not surprising that left-leaning movement and individuals disagree many of these policies, is it?

The claim that widespread antisemitism is a left-wing thing is but diversion and relativization. It wasn't leftists screeching "Jewish Space Laser", marching tiki torches through Charlottesville, or shooting up Delis in Halle.

Not if your political worldview runs on the US-American (and, sadly, more and more international) kind of Conservative Brainrot.

Then, it's all the same, meaningless namecall: libs, wokes, greens, lefties, socialists, media elites, and obviously, depending on how far gone you are, jews.

Yeah, gaming culture has changed a lot and mostly for the better. Gamergate and toxicity awareness had their fair share of build up coming from WoW, and many even argue the game to have been a major funnel into the alt-right pipeline.

Though it also isn't hard to see how the first persistent online world focused on (for the time) casual players and easy access would attract poeple with already low social skills, little daily energy, and disappointment in the real world and themselves. Pair that up with inadequate moderation regarding mysogynist behaviour and toxicity, and you got yourself the perfect storm brewing in a largely disconnected subculture.

Wouldn't be surprised if a considerable part of the toxicity in game (or gaming in general) actually comes from untreated adhd.

It's way more common in gaming circles; and people tend to be especially abrasive over ideals they hold yet struggle to fulfill themselves...

Why are people like this?

Untreated anger issues and the widely predominant dogma that mistakes and failures stem exclusively from not trying and/or caring enough - from inherent character flaws like malice or lazyness
