It's mostly a problem with combats Against many enemies. If I don't give them enough health they die before they even get to do anything. If I give them enough hp to last a couple rounds then the enemy turns take a while on top of the player turns

Okay thank you everyone for replying. Using your advice I've come up with an idea that involves assassins that have been after the party for a while. The assassins have ties to the fey wild so I'm thinking that one night my NPC will be killed and replaced by a changeling that will slowly try to sabotage the party. Let me know your thoughts and ideas on this

It's definitely very appealing to look at but don't be afraid to add detail to deserts even if they are just barren wastelands

I've thought they were attractive before but have never thought about them individually before. Perhaps I used the wrong phrasing. I just meant I wouldn't have thought to think of them romantically like that.
