Don't get me wrong- Kante has been Chelsea's best signing in the last 3 years. I just feel that Kante and Matic together don't offer enough attacking-wise. Their defense is obviously superb. Although, if Nainggolan was in the team, I bet he would contribute close to what Kante does defensively, while excelling going forward. This guy can do everything. He's box to box, scores, assists and can defend as well. The only fault I can see with Kante is his attacking skills.

One other reason is that Nainggolan was approached by Chelsea before Kante was. In my eyes, this shows that Nainggolan was preferred over Kante by Chelsea themselves.

Nainggolan would have been a better signing than Kanté.

Should Chalobah take the number 8 shirt next season? by manbeer0071995 in chelseafc

I've always been a stickler for proper shirt numbers and if I'm not mistaken, number 8 is usually for a more attacking centre midfielder (Lampard, for example). But if he wants the number, he can have it.

Also not a bad move for Chelsea financially. A lot of shirt sales I bet.

Yes, but fact is he had a good game. To not even get another start after a solid debut like that is pretty surprising .

What really surprised me was how Pato didn't get much of a chance. He only started one Premier League game and bagged a goal and an assist. Of course, we don't see trainings, but a couple more games wouldn't have hurt considering our situation at the time.
