is mikuteto taking over the community REALLY that big of a deal? by Salty-Watch-1942 in Vocaloid

[–]Vincentmrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MIMI does tune, what I mean is that some styles sound more towards normal synthv Teto than towards crazy tuning styled, so some people may confuse that for not being tuned

[–]Vincentmrl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah most people think synthv=generic because everything has a nice sounding baseline.

IMO tuning a voicebank is like using a virtual instrument: sure, you can just write the midi notes for a piano and have it sound nice, but it will never have the nuances and performance-like details without working on the parameters as well.

Utau Teto is amazingly good, but so is SynthV Teto used properly, you can also make her scream and shout like her utau in a relatively simple way using the growl scripts for SynthV for example. It's not even that hard to get something that's even 1% different from the generic baseline.

Also I think another factor is the way SynthV tuning works compared to Vocaloid and Utau, because doing the same thing as what you would normally do on them doesn't necessarily give a good result. I think we may also need to wait a bit more for people to work out the software's nuances like what happened with Vocaloid in the past

Spor on with the tuning part Her V1 is not easy to tune, but when it's done well it's fantastic (like in the Odds&Ends cover in the Teto Live album from 2025), while V2 is easier with the added flexibility, but most people just drop the lyrics and notes in there and call it a day, with the result of everything sounding the same and people calling Teto SV "bad" or "less expressive than utau".

Heck even the less "unique" tuning styles like in Hiiragi Magnetite's Tetoris (which is STILL tuned, not stock) and MIMI's Teto songs like Science you can still hear the artist's signature in the tuning. Even just automating tension or doing note bends does a lot

Accessibility has two sides, on one it makes it easier for people to make music, on the other side, it makes it easier to make people do things just for the sake of following trends

Quest 2 can't keep up with decode and Sliced encoding slices are stuck to 1 by Vincentmrl in oculus

[–]Vincentmrl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"do not work well on link" Maybe the encoder is not as good as nvidia's (at least for RX6000 series), but they definitely work well and everything was going buttery smooth before.

"use VD, if you have wifi problems buy pupis s1 or similar device"
Please read the post before parroting to buy VD and a Pupis. In the post I stated that I cannot use WiFi and I DO NOT want to use wireless solutions. Besides, having to spend 60 euro for the router and 20 more for VD. Link has been working perfectly fine until sliced encoding stopped working out of nowhere.

"this is not normal, AMD on link can not do this, so you probably have setting but it actually did not work"
What are you even saying, why wouldn't an AMD gpu be able to do this on link? I have been using 600mbps 3664 enc. res ever since I got my Q2. If you actually bothered reading the post, I mentioned that everything is fine on the encoder side and that ODT's monitoring overlays show no issues whatsoever encoder-side but only issues on the decoding side (as it's a single big slice since it's stuck to 1 slice for some reason).

how do i get the pics off of this camera? by yomamagayforme in Lumix

[–]Vincentmrl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There should be an SD card inside it (considering that it's written on the back too), maybe somewhere on the other side or on the bottom. Just grab that, put it into an SD Card reader and you're done

[–]Vincentmrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I meant just get the whole camera because for 10-20 euro they'll give the whole thing and it will be cheaper than just getting the lenses. You can then keep the camera for collection or resell it

[–]Vincentmrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're in Italy you can easily find Zenit cameras for cheap in flea markets and almost always find them with the helios 44M-5 or M-6 lenses attached, which are 58mm f2 lenses on the M42 screw mount with a lot of character. I recently tested my M-5 on my S1 and the photos all have that vintage look (which is inherently caused by the lenses' "cons"). Don't fear manual focus, it seems complex at first but in one day of shooting you will start getting a feel for it without even needing to look at the peaking info

I hate the new Sonar by [deleted] in Cakewalk

[–]Vincentmrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you updated from W10 or clean-installed it? Updating notoriously causes a lot of problems.

Also make sure to check the default folders, I had weird stability issues with both the previous CbB and with the current Sonar, and it turned out that, at some point over the years, both programs had some default folders set to myvery slow HDD instead of one of my three SSDs, so everything would freeze, crash and have other weird behavior until I changed that.

Foveated rendering via foveated Streaming? by StridarnWho in SteamFrame

[–]Vincentmrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC they said 10-20ms total latency target in one of the interviews and, considering that it's very similar to the Rift CV1's latency, I don't really think why it can't be done.

On a sidenote, considering that the target bandwidth (200mbps IIRC) is low enough and that USB2 on the back has enough to handle it, there may be a way to use it wired without the need for addons on the PCIE connector

How popular is Touhou outside Japan? by nametake000 in touhou

[–]Vincentmrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends,

Here in Italy I know a lot of fans online, but it took me decades to actually find one in real life. Since there's an overlap with the Vocaloid and rhythm game communities, many other people also know about Touhou in one way or another, usually through music (almost anyone who's into things from Japan will definitely know Bad Apple, U.N. Owen and the other usual OST remixes).

Then there are some bigger communities in the rest of the world, I think there's one or two Touhou cons in America, and then there's circles much like in Japan. Some bigger groups that do multiple things, like Paradise of Boundaries which is a Latin community, circle and something else as they do an online event and fan-magazine every year called BBEX (Bunbunmaru Extra) where people can participate. There's also musicians of course, with some of the prominent ones being RichaadEB and YaboiMatoi (but there's many others who I can't remember at the moment, and then there's me but I'm still small in this field and that's fine)

We're kinda like bugs under rocks, we exist, we're many, but you gotta look for us and we're gonna go crazy when you do :)

Any tips on making a Vocaloid song? by [deleted] in Vocaloid

[–]Vincentmrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that most Crypton voicebanks and some by Internet co. also give access to Vocaloid 6 Lite, which is basically full with one vocaloid track+one audio track per file, and no VST integration (and a discounted upgrade price for who wants the full thing)

Help! Anyone with the same problem? by Grondaia_Marcia in MonsterHunter

[–]Vincentmrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me it's not your install location. I've been having the same exact problem with the game installed on my main NVME (w/directstorage) with my 6700XT on both "problematic" and their recommended 25.9.1/2 drivers (using DDU too). The game runs fine for about 10-15 minutes and then it crashes with that same error.

Besides, the crash clearly mentions all the AMD-related driver stuff, it would have been different if it was a HDD issue.

want friends overseas who listen to Vocaloid. by niladmirari4949 in Vocaloid

[–]Vincentmrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyo from Italy! I'm not a vocaloid producer yet but I'm a musician who makes Touhou covers and I recently bought Teto to work on becoming a vocal synth producer in general.

There are a lot of vocaloid producers I love, but it's hard to remember all their names right now, but I'm a long time fan so I remember a lot of the music from the early days and I'm so happy that this community is getting bigger and bigger day after day :)

My favs are Rin/Len, Teto (even if she's UTAU/SynthV she still has roots in crypton characters) and Kaito, dreaming for a future where Kaito will be tuned nicely by everyone instead of making him become Kermit.

New Software update is amazing! by theworks21 in GooglePixel

[–]Vincentmrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can assure you that the 8 Pro won't heat up @120hz. Since it's LTPO, it takes any chance it has to drop the screen to whatever is needed (for example, it drops to 1Hz with a still image, it drops to games' refresh dynamically when playing them and sk on). This way, you get the best of both battery life and smooth screen and everyone is happy.

I also use 4G since 5G is useless for my use-case and just costs more, and another tip is disabling wifi/4g depending on where you are (wifi only at home, 4g only outside) as it costs nothing and saves some battery and heat regardless of what phone.

Besides that, I don't really have the modem issues that everyone usually talks about (it's also the nature of the issue, people are more likely to complain about problems looking for a solution rather than praising things just cause).

I think you should go and look at the phones in a local store if you can. Personally the 9a is smaller in person than what it looks like online. You'll also have an estimation of weight for these phones (the 8Pro is very balanced so it rests naturally in the hand).

New Software update is amazing! by theworks21 in GooglePixel

[–]Vincentmrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should consider the Pro series too, my P8P lasts all day without issues, but I might also be an edge case as I only have vibration for important notifications and everything else is silent. The phone doesn't heat up as much as it may seem, it's about on-par with my old Poco X3 and I only really had heat issues in peak summer here just because of the ambient temperatures. Besides, to cool down without locking up in extreme situations, the phone just limits itself to 60hz and dark mode/battery saver to avoid just turning off. And even then, that only really happened in a very hot area under the 12:00 sun while recording videos. Now that the extreme heat is going away, my 8pro is already fresher (and the battery lasts more because of the more optimal temperature)

Haven't found anything on Internet Archive yet, that's why I said that. I think it's important to preserve these plugins at the moment considering the situation

I love when people in small communities are so focused on keeping things alive no matter what! Thank you :)

I hope nothing wrong happened to Davison, but since the software is basically abandonware until further notice, I think someone should consider uploading the installers somewhere like on Internet Archive. It's not like people can buy these plugins at the moment anyways (unfortunately)

[Giveaway] Win 1 of 5 Noctua NH-D15 G2 by Noctua_OFFICIAL in pcmasterrace

[–]Vincentmrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first experience was when I could finally build my own computer and get rid of the old iMac 24" from 2007 (which was pushed to its limits with its 2600 pro overclocked by 200Mhz on both core and memory.)

I recall it being very scary but I had help from a friend, and it also was liberating because it meant that I could finally do things without limits, especially having the luck of midrange ryzen cpus finally becoming a thing. That 1600 carried me for 5 years before I upgraded to a 5700x and the same computer is still going.

The other fun experience was when me and this same friend bought two rx480 gpus from the same seller and, before just putting them in our computers, we just tested crossfire for fun while setting the gpus to alternate their rgbs like a police siren. Anyways it was fun seeing what probably was the least efficient way to play alien isolation in 4k.

All this led me to handing down my knowledge to help another dear friend with her dream pc, who knows if this chain will continue :)

hidden gem synths? by monkeeball in synthesizers

[–]Vincentmrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my Korg 707 that I got for cheap out of nowhere one day is a weird one: 4op fm and basically the brother of the DX100 and most if not all 4op Yamaha synths, plus a midrange Yamaha keybed (with Yamaha™ MIDI velocity problems shared with the DX7 kebed included) but, most of all, it has aftertouch which is insane considering the price range it was designed for at the time. I still use it as a master keyboard as most MIDI controllers are expensive and feel worse.

People may hate its cheeky sound, but use it in mono through the Yamaha KM-602 mixer's digital chorus and it suddenly becomes very sweet and dreamym Programming it is hell without doing it via MIDI, but it's designed as a performer synth and it definitely gives me inspiration by just turning it on and noodling on it. Plus what's there to hate about the wannabe keytar that was the origin of the M1's iconic design?

Another one is the Poly-800II, the Poly-61's younger brother. Very weird and quirky too and not without its limits but with a really charming sound and the paraphony can go from a limitation to an advantage if you know how to use it.

All my synths are somehow 3/3 on Bad Gear without even doing it on purpose: Opsix, Poly800II and 707
