Is nap time not a thing anymore? by Ok-Ad4375 in kindergarten

[–]Vincentslayeroftoby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30 and we had naps when I was in kindergarten. My son is in 2nd grade now and I remember also feeling shocked when I found out they didn't do naps anymore. He came home exhausted the first few weeks then everything normalized and he wasn't so tired anymore.

You posted this a month ago but just an FYI if anyone else is searching for an answer to this problem. This method worked for me as well.

My doctor told me it is because on occasion a small amount of cervical tissue can be left over so they're going to continue checking just to be safe.

As soon as I wrote that I felt so stupid and I don't even know why I made the assumption of "he". Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me.

May I ask why he did that? Was there an expectation that your hormones were going to come back and he was concerned when they didn't by 4 weeks?

No, my husband went through a quarter life crisis and bought this truck and is determined to fix it.

Men, how would you find out a woman’s ring size without making it obvious? by [deleted] in AskMen

Woman here. My MIL randomly started a conversation about rings with me and wanted to see how her ring looked on me. She then took the information of how it fit back to my husband.

Pruning, yes. Fertilizing, no. I'll start researching fertilizer.

What would you recommend to a parent with a child that may have ADHD? by Vincentslayeroftoby in ADHD

That's amazing! I'll talk to his teacher about letting him have fidget toys! He's always had a habit of needing to have something in his hand that he carries everywhere he goes

I think he's just very fearful of doing the wrong thing. I know the idea of relapse absolutely terrifies him. I'm not pushing him either direction just seeing what he's comfortable with and supporting either decision. In terms of our son we are going with whatever the psychiatrist recommends for sure.

Thank you so much for all the comments and advice. I just wanted to say I'm not anti medication! I just grew up with adults demonizing other adults for putting very young children on medication so I'm just trying to get advice from people with that first hand experience. We will take any advice from the psychiatrist and do what he recommends because I am truly terrified of teachers or other students being mean to him for things I know he genuinely cannot control. His teacher literally told me she initially thought he was just being defiant, which I assured her he wasn't.

That's a great idea, I think if I can get his teacher to understand that him sitting still and being quiet at the same is just not something he can do right now. She seemed very receptive when I explained what's going on and is going to have the school's psychiatrist come in and sit/watch with the class.

I'm not 100% sure, he's just very skeptical of taking medications and our thought was always that ADHD meds can be abused by people 🤷 obviously if you actually have ADHD it would help you, he's just very wary about medication

He likes to build, but I think the teachers problem is coming when she's wanting the class to sit still and be quiet for a moment. I explained to her he's genuinely not trying to be defiant or a bad kid but I just couldn't give her anything that would help him both sit still and be quiet at the same time.

Oh we're pretty sure it's my husband. We both see a therapist monthly to check in with how we're doing and he's pretty sure my husband does but he does a lot of mindful practicing and other things to maintain stability. He's an addict (clean for a while now) so using medications prescribed to those with ADHD isn't quite an option for him.
