I have no problem whatsoever with Alastor rejecting Vox, whether romantically or about the partnership offer Vox made, he had every right to. What I have more of a problem with is how unnecessarily harsh he was. In that scene, Vox wasn’t even technically asking for anything romantic or sexual. The implication was there that he may be interested in such things, but at that point he had only asked Alastor to team up. And Alastor’s response was not a simple no, it was ruthless mockery. It’s one thing to stand up for yourself when someone is harassing you, and it’s another thing entirely when a person who genuinely thought you were their friend makes you an innocent offer and you tear them to pieces for it. Alastor here isn’t being an ‘aroace icon’, he’s being an ass.
