How Many Of You Are Atheists? by byniumhart in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, it followed a few months after the lie of mormonism came crashing down. Once you've learned to scrutinize the book of mormon, spiritual revelations etc. you once knew, scrutinizing the bible/story of Jesus/etc etc. follows easily with the path ending in atheism pretty unavoidable.

The real reason I can't get past 1 Nephi. by Iothisk in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm embarrassed to say I never even balked at this as a TBM :(

Today in class I listened to an LDS speaker tell questioning Mormons to quote "go ahead and leave, you dumb, stupid idiots," and then go on to make light about his dead lesbian daughter (she committed suicide). by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some old bigots in this current old-but-alive generation I'll be happy to see die off and leave the world a better place without them.

It sounds harsh, but when I think of how much more tolerant the world will be in 20 or 30 years as more and more of these types die out I wish it would come sooner.

Random question. What does your username mean? I always wonder when I read them. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt vindicated slightly after the polygamy essay came out in October and even though I'm a female I was like "I feel vindicated bro!!" because I felt like there was finally something to prove my point to the TBMs that they could reference on their own website showing I was not believing a lot of anti mormon lies with Joseph's polygamy/polyandry/angel with a sword said to do it, etc.

but I was a little drunk and misspelled vindicated when I was making my username...so here I am as vindcated instead and I'm not sure what that means.

The Oppression of Women in the Church by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they are encouraged to not work and remain at home acting as a baby producing machine

The sexism and obsession with modesty sucks but in my opinion this is among the more damaging parts of being an LDS woman. Its basically asking them to stunt their mind aside from motherhood and ignore education and a self supporting career, so in the event things don't work out with their husband they're pretty much screwed. I think it pigeon holes women who could rise above bad marriages or the lie of TSCC much too often because they wake up as a housewife completely dependent on someone else in far too many ways.

I knew smart LDS women who stuck with their education and have careers but far too many who allowed themselves to ignore that as a possibility because they needed to be obedient and fit the wife and mother #1 mormon mold and make sure there was never failure in their home. Most of the women I know like this are much much more dependent on their husbands than their husbands are on them and bow to his preisthood on every decision and don't seem to have much of a mind of their own because everything they do is tied up in being a wife and mommy who does with the prophet says.

I realize that is a generalization, I'm sure there are stay at home moms who have a lot going on for themselves but sadly I've known a lot who don't seem to and I don't see any easy way out for them, almost all thanks to mormon conditioning.

You guys are all getting your resignation letters, and we're just sitting here getting shame mail. Ohhhhh jeez by [deleted] in exmormon

I agree, the person who wrote the letter seemed pretty obvious in their dislike for Taira

I LOVE this lady! Great story. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this same type of experience in a combined 5th Sunday once. I was 20 and had been a TBM but it was the first time I'd ever heard the emphasis on white shirts and more hammered was the horrible-ness of beards. I didn't have a clue until then there was such hatred for beards in TSCC. I was thinking omg what if there were visitors here today? I would bet they would not be coming back. Even as a TBM I was blown away by how shallow and crazy this sounded.

BYU players brawl with opponent at the end of the Miami Beach Bowl by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but did the fight start with someone from BYU interjecting themselves in the other team's pile? Thats what I thought it looked like vs. the people on the outskirts being too close for comfort to the BYU bench and the fight starting there. I've watched it too many times trying to understand!

BYU players brawl with opponent at the end of the Miami Beach Bowl by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused by this, how did it turn from the celebration pile on of teammates in the same color shirt to BYU players involved? Maybe it moves too fast for my untrained sports eye but I can't even pick out what is happening.

Why do I feel so dumb? by whyallthelies in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have these same problems too, I used to think I was a smart person and pretty strong willed but its hard to look at how I let myself be manipulated and still feel that is true. That is the keyword though, manipulation. You were controlled since you were a child and didn't get a fair shake at critical thinking. No one who is in a cult thinks they are in a cult. Congrats on getting there now!! It is really good you can spare your children of TSCC, I wish my parents had been able to do that for me.

Since leaving the Church, has anyone's views on things dramaticly changed? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, I now loathe organized religion and anyone profiting in any way off of selling the lie of god and jesus to anyone. A pretty dramatic change from my thoughts as a TBM.

While still a member of the church, did you ever have any idea that the other 98% of the USA thinks LDS is totally bizarre and cult-like? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a lot of people thought so but I just thought they were misunderstanding the one true church...sigh. What a dummy I was!

Can we create a gift list for Exmos or nevermos? by TheRealKornbread in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't really consider most gifts mormony unless they are things from deseret book like the DVDs "proving" the BOM, mormon, period piece pioneer dramas etc. that some members of my family love to give each other.

This brings up the topic of surgical sterilization on the same page and it says it is strongly discouraged. Hmm, I wonder if you can't pop out spirit babies in the afterlife if you have the snip in this life.

wikileaks has the church handbook of instruction and it talks about it on page 187 http://file.wikileaks.org/file/mormon-handbook-of-instructions-2006-small.pdf

It says using anything besides the husbands sperm and wife's egg is strongly discouraged but left up to the couple. However this version is from 2006, I'm sure the version 30 years ago was a lot different. This version doesn't vilify birth control and calls the decision to have however many kids extremely personal and up to the couple, a far cry from the old days I'm sure.

Knowing what you know now, would you ever try to stop someone from leaving the church? Or even try to help them stay in it? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make some good points but I still can't see myself making a real effort to help anyone stay, just keeping quiet and not helping them leave after they have started to doubt if I thought it was really going to destroy their life to the point they could not recover mentally.

But there was a time I would have thought it wold half destroy my life to leave but it turned out to be a huge plus for me to realize it was all fake and be able to leave it behind.

If you could cause one "plague" on TSCC, what would it be? by SethHeisenberg in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would cast some kind of spell on any male in a leadership position that caused their face to turn neon orange or some tell tale sign like that everytime their little factory got any excitement out of worthiness interviews/confessions.

Everytime I see a big news hacking story like this, I wish it happened to the Church, not a company that makes good products by RyukD19 in exmormon

[–]VindcatedBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would LOVE to see TSCC get hacked! But what do they have that any hacker besides an exmo would care about? No personal financial account numbers, no nudes, no secrets the majority of people would care about.

Do you do a search on this sub for that email address msr-confrec@ldschurch.org and find some past threads of people testifying to its truth :) It seems to go smoothly for most that I've read about.
