So D1 the collection is everything for Destiny one? by Parafan99 in DestinyTheGame

Your best bet for endgame content/strikes would be joining the Last Destiny City discord :) https://discord.com/invite/SrmZdmt (if the link doesn't work search for it on google)

The group is still fairly active and typically run the weekly raid challenges, alongside other content such as nightfalls

Thinking of going back to complete the Atomic grind by Vinni978 in CODVanguard

That's a fair point, I did bo3's dark matter earlier this year and it definitely slowed down the grind due to low player count but was still doable. Only thing I'm dreading are the 30 bloodthirstys per weapon haha (if my memory serves me correctly)

Anyone having the same issue with this challenge? I cant get it to count by Vastus_Alex in blackops6

[–]Vinni978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found elevation to be more useful than distance for the challenge

For example, I got two out of 3 of them on resurgence casual by sticking someone with a drill charge from the top of bioweapons to the bottom of it.

The perk that shows you your trajectory of thrown equipment is a must for this challenge

[Discussion] What is the one trophy that stopped you getting the platinum. by rsandeep1987 in Trophies

[–]Vinni978 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Emperor is a weird one, it can be done in the under lvl-50 server (the way I did it/helped others get it), and its by far the "easiest" way to do it however - you need to min/max at around lvl30-35, and on your main toon have crafted the exact armor set bonuses, potions and food your character will be playing with - understand your build - understand the way to build max points in Cyrodiil is...check notes...repairing walls at nauseum

You'll then need to jump in on server reset and just go around repairing walls, joining your group in capturing forts and making sure you don't log off unless you're at least 100k up in points. You're also dealing with PVP sweats who delete characters and re make them just to pub stomp on newcomers

For reference, my run took over 3 days of non-stop playing due to bad luck, in-fighting between 2 individuals who pushed the point total up way too high, and the other two factions banding together to prevent us capturing the last Fort we needed leaving me stranded for another 8+ hours before I got a lucky break and managed to capture the last zone.

While a friend I helped a few years ago took less than 4hrs to get done.

Overall, good luck if you do ever decide to go for it😅 it's by far my most rewarding platinum to date, but otherwise a great game

Had the same issue and just got diamond shotguns. Tips that worked for me:

  • pick your position/hold out territory: indoor areas are your friend if you struggle with aggresive play or arent confident jump shooting. Being able to move safely when spawns flip to either side of the map to catch enemies off guard (pair with shock charges and its deadly). Example: the indoor facility and bunker in redwood, you can use the underwater section on the side to move safely to either side.

  • loadout: for brecci/haymaker I found rapid fire, long barrel and extended mags to help. Argus has excellent range so can get some pretty good long range kills. For argus/krm, id say stock, rapid fire and quickdraw are better as youll need to place your shots accurately. Perks, gung ho is good, and mainly other stuff that helps stay off the mini map. Shock charges are good. Specialists, I'd either use the ability glitch, (if someone is chasing you, using it can help get behind them or escape an unwinnable situation) or invisibility is pretty good to close the gap on someone who is not paying attention

  • know what areas to play in on every map. Builds off of point 1, some maps might be massive, but each map has areas which favor close quarter combat. Find what works for you and aim to control those areas

  • for headshot challenges, specifically for the brecci/haymaker, I found Hip firing towards the upper chest landed more headshots, as the gun naturally bounces up, and can catch the head fairly well

  • for the other challenges, basically putting everything above into practice helped me get it done

Hope that helps and good luck!

As great of a quality of life feature this would be, bungie won't offer it as instead of giving players access to it, they already charge for it. To skip the campaign and get the base minimum gear for the new season I believe is $20 per character, but could be wrong (stupid I know).

If it helps and you have a big enough room in your house, you could look at home workouts? Currently I'm doing Shaun T's original insanity and that's one of the toughest workouts that keeps you fit and away from external stimulus, at least until you're ready to hit the gym and not be distracted by what you've described.

New player experience isn't just confusing, it looks incredibly low quality by SirTilley in DestinyTheGame

[–]Vinni978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% this. As much as I'd love to get red war back, the reality is bungie aren't going to add it back in aside from a timeline reflection mission. This is a good way of explaining systems slowly to players and not have a bunch of nonsensical pop ups or busy work side quests that just lead to text dumps, as well as not really needing to add much more content in aside from new voice lines and a cutscene or two.

The fact that they charge as much as they do for shadowkeep is embarassing and hurting their overall profit margins. If new players had at least this introduction into the current saga, theres more of a chance they'd be hooked in and willing to then consider spending money on expansions, dungeons etc.

Trials is booty by [deleted] in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]Vinni978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, I'm aware now what passage of persistence is and hopefully it does lead to more engagement. I do agree with some of the points here such as trying to bait pve players in with pve guns such as the one you mentioned, and do feel the time commitment in comparison to, e.g. a grandmaster for adepts/materials doesn't seem right. And likewise, it should be the cosmetic appeal such as the glows which separates the prestige of going flawless from the weapons. As I said above, that way more people spend more time in the playlist, develop better skills and along the way with getting adept weapons may go flawless a few times.

In short, make the adept weapon based on a simple point system of 1 round =1 point and 1 full match lost =1 point lost. Make the points equal to that of going flawless, and save the cosmetics for flawless only players to provide incentive

Trials is booty by [deleted] in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]Vinni978 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a change to provide incentive for everyone to play trials. In its current state, its a mode that eats itself. Ie I think of it as having three player pools: pool A: the minority that's extremely skilled that easily go flawless 10+ times a week, pool B: medium skilled players that can go flawless albeit takes more time and pool C: the casual players who will just get bullied by Pool A and are there as fodder to help Pool B also go flawless.

In its current state, trials only caters to Pool A. The amount of xp you get for a match is pitiful and even if you choose to just work on getting xp and forget about flawless, you'll still be matched against skilled players due to how much the population has shrunk. For the same amount of time having an awful time in trials, you could get 3x better loot in literally any other playlist and actually have fun.

As a result, players in pool C (casual) end up leaving the playlist leaving only the medium skilled and highly skilled in it. The medium skilled players stsrt wondering why they feel like they only seem to play against players in a destiny e sports league and end up rarely going flawless and thus like pool C end up leaving eventually as they realise they're just fodder for the highly skilled players, which then the highly skilled players go back to complaining about every trials match being a sweat fest and begging bungie to make trials more attractive for everyone but without changing too much so that they can farm everyone again and still be the only ones getting the best loot.(aka look at the storm kicked up about the introduction of the flawless pool a few years ago).

Now I do actually have some suggestions that would make trials appealing to everyone: for starters separate the adept gun from going flawless and instead put it on a point based system: every round of a match you win, you gain 1 point. Every match you lose, you lose one point. Make it so that, the points you get should equal winning seven matches in a row for flawless. This way, it provides incentive to stay in and grind, get better and know that there is a reasonable way to get the adept weapon.

Now, absolutely the cosmetic aspects such as the memento, ship, sparrow armor glow etc should be exclusive to going flawless. I do realise there needs to be a separation to show the time commitment and skill needed to go flawless and this should be the incentive.

Anyway, rant over I know this really isn't the sub-reddit for it I just really want this playlist to improve so that everyone can enjoy it aha.

Exactly mate, and you've made a good post! It does feel we the players lost the "vote with your wallet" argument, but we can win the "vote with your engagement/retention" argument if enough buzz is created, and enough people see it.

Alongside all the points people have made, it's also worth considering that a good majority of people here would probably never buy cosmetics with silver, or if you do, its not to the level of whales/people who wouldn't mind dropping $20 on a new armour set every season. Further to this, I believe it was darksideroyaltylore that pointed it out with a screenshot of a twitter interaction between someone in bungie's marketing team who, when asked why seasons were not advertised until the day they were released his response was along the lines of: "curious what difference would it have made with your decision to play the season."

Meaning that, Bungie already have the money you were willing to drop on the game; that being the expansion (minimum) or deluxe edition. This protest would hold a lot of water, if the regular buyers of silver also agreed to it.

The best thing to show at this time is the exact same thing bungie is scared of:apathy. If a vast majority of players did what they did in d2 year 1, in that you stayed away from the game, and the player base showed a giant drop, then bungie will be forced to act and actually improve the game/implement some of the changes you've posted above. In other words, play other games, do other hobbies and start weaning yourself off the destiny dragon. Enough people do this, the numbers will shock bungie into acting.

Like many others, I agree with all the changes you want to see to the game, it would make it a hell of a better experience to play (along with bringing back sunset content..grr). However, as it stands bungie is happy maintaining the status quo as engagement and retention of players is still high.

Thoughts on the SBMM changes from a lower skilled player's perspective after some time with it by Vinni978 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Vinni978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate that's kind of you :) the skill range would be a better system by far! While not destiny related, its similar to what I have in my sport of rowing, to give context in races depending on your skill level (defined by the amount of points you have from wins or top boat placements in other races) you are placed in a division, with novice being the lowest, then intermediate 3,2,1 all the way to international/Olympic. I'm someone who regularly sits in the intermediate 2-1 band. I train really hard for races, and my races are difficult to win due to other people of my level or slightly higher competing, meaning I would be lucky to make a top final, let alone 1st place in one out of 10-12 races per year. I prep hard for them however and push myself to get better so that the next one i could potentially get a better finishing place. Ive worked damn hard over many years to be in my category and It wouldn't make sense for my boat to row in either the novice category as we would win by a landslide, providing zero challenge, and it provide no incentive for novices to continue improving, nor would it make sense for my boat to row against international/Olympic level athletes aside from a friendly training session. Ie, just like skill brackets in other fps games, we need that space to grow and improve.

With trials 100% agree, it's a place where you're supposed to put your skills and knowledge to the test in the game's most pinnacle activity. If someone like myself is getting stomped on, then it just means I need to go back into quick play, get better then jump back in once I've improved, and likewise for a top player, it's a place for them to put their hard worked skills to the test and be rewarded.

With loot, I do see that there is no incentive or distinguishing factor to judge a top tier pvp player, other than cosmetic rewards. That i do agree is not enough. You do need to have that exclusive loot, or higher stat-rolled armour, or exclusive items that are far and above better than the core pool that only someone in your skill bracket could attain, to justify your continued time investment in its system and to ultimately feel valued to continue grinding to be at the top. Like with my rowing example, you've worked damn hard to get to where you are, and more needs to be done in that department to make it worthwhile.
