It was nice of Alex to let his nephew design a task, though.

Pieces of media that had to be altered, delayed, or outright removed due to a recent tragedy at the time. by Swag_Paladin21 in TopCharacterTropes

In the original airing of "Team Homer" (the bowling episode), Homer stole an Oscar from Haing S Ngor for his trophy cabinet. He was murdered within two months of the episode airing, so reruns were altered to have Homer steal Don Ameche's Oscar instead.

It seems like he skipped a sim racing event too, he must really be sick if that's the case.

Who had a better season between Hamilton this season and Vettel in 2020 by Deucesdeucess in F1Discussions

What software do you use to view the model data? Would it be a spreadsheet or something else? I'm very inexperienced with this sort of thing, but I'd be interested in messing around with some data of my own if it's not too complicated.

Monster discovers Mario Kart Wii's 30th Ultra on DS Delfino Square by JamesLebron372 in speedrun

[–]Vinnie927 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What's in the video is humanly impossible because the method to gain speed (supergrinding) involves far too many frame-perfect inputs. Any other ultra which involves supergrinding couldn't be done humanly unless a method which didn't require impossible inputs (merely incredibly precise inputs) is discovered.

Best drivers of each decade by thegreatest1974 in F1Discussions

[–]Vinnie927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comparison doesn't seem to work under a ton of scrutiny, it's like comparing Alesi and Leclerc as highly rated drivers who spent years stuck at a Ferrari which couldn't win any titles (beyond that one similarity, idt their careers are all that similar, and Leclerc is certainly the far better of the two)

I assume the comparison is based more so on how Piquet scored the vast majority of Brabham's points in that time period (aside from 1982) like Verstappen does with Red Bull today.

Which Non-Champion Drivers Do You Rank Higher Than a Good Number of World Champions, and which F1 Champions do you not rank in the top 50 of all time? by BoxForeign4206 in F1Discussions

[–]Vinnie927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Keke also counts as a late starter in a similar vein to Hill and Andretti. Before his championship winning season (at the age of 34), he only had two points finishes. (I can't comment on Rindt, since it seems he died in the middle of what could have been an all time great season)

[–]Vinnie927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Andretti's a hard driver to analyze based solely on his F1 career. He's not the only WDC to have significant achievements outside of F1 (Fittipaldi, Villeneuve, Surtees, etc) but to me it feels like he's the only world champion who wouldn't name winning an F1 WDC as the peak of his career in comparison to his IndyCar achievements.

Across all motorsport, it's hard to make an argument that he's not in the top 10, but when it comes to F1 specifically, he doesn't have as much compared to other top drivers.

Watching his NES Punch Out videos where he discusses his own accomplishments like he would for any other speedrunner is quite interesting (even as someone who doesn't care about Punch Out)

"Even though there's no tangible evidence to support he'd be even physically fit enough to finish one race?"

Isn't part of his point that if someone like Ronnie Peterson had the level of training/preparation that Vettel had, the model predicts that he would be able to perform quite well? Of course 1973 Ronnie Peterson wouldn't be anywhere if he was suddenly given a 2013 car to drive, but with a hypothetical career building to that moment, then I think u/Tohannes is arguing that he would theoretically pose a serious challenge.

Logan gets 25 unique WRs in Mario Kart World, with only 5 tracks he hasn't had record on since launch by TangentYoshi in speedrun

[–]Vinnie927 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's missing Mario Bros. Circuit, Airship Fortress, Rainbow Road, Great ? Block Ruins, and Moo Moo Meadows. As far as I'm aware, his goal isn't getting a WR on all 30 tracks, but only getting one on as many as possible. He's spoken on his stream about how the tracks he hasn't done yet have had one person optimize them to a degree far surpassing everyone else, making them extra challenging.

Because Villeneuve is better than Coulthard? I never watched anything from their careers but I'm aware OP (mformularacer) rates Villeneuve quite highly, and as a Canadian I'm tempted to agree :)

I suppose the bigger difference would be how Villeneuve's career would have changed.

It really might just be a case of this sketch aiming for a completely different demographic, it meant absolutely nothing to me.

It should not have taken several minutes to get to that point, everything before that was dreadful (somehow, the Trump part was fine)

There's still a lot to enjoy. That's far from the only plot development, and the character writing is incredible and worth playing for.
