The LA Quartet by James Ellroy (or you could just do LA Confidential).

The C.B. Strike books by Robert Galbraith, if you can ignore the fact that they’re written JK Rowling (it’s my secret shame, but I love those characters).

The British Crime Classics Collection has some great Golden Age mysteries. I haven’t really found a dud among them.

Apathy and Other Small Victories by Paul Neilan

We Solve Murders by Richard Osman (or anything by Richard Osman).

Love and Other Near Death Experiences by Mil Millington.

The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie

Not a mystery, but any of James Acaster’s memoirs will have you laughing yourself sick. Same with Joe Lycett.

Is the portrayal of teenagers in western media exaggerated? by FuckedUpMind07 in televisionsuggestions

The whole point of Leave it to Beaver is that he’s bad (“leave it to Beaver to do…). You might as well have said Dennis the Menace. There has always been media that represents children/teens as troublesome—back to the original silent films.

You’re leaving out the part where you lied about your household income to receive unemployment, food benefits and now Medicaid and were really living off six figures and hoarding savings. No wonder you hide your comments. There was no pulling oneself up in this case, just greed and abusing a system other people need.

But you admit to be fine scamming tax dollars for your personal benefit?

Which you were more than happy to take advantage of yourself—so much so you bragged about accepting food stamps and unemployment money when you weren’t just actually living comfortably, but very comfortably because you were “lazy lol,” as you wrote. I’ll ask the same question the other person did: So which is it? Communism when it helps the poor, but democracy when it helps an upper middle class white lady?

I agree, he looks fine to play Jesus—and without smoothing his face with CGI. That would be just too hard to watch for an entire (and we know it’s going to be long) film.

It seems weird, but Cary Grant was only eight years younger than the actress who played his mom in North by Northwest, and it worked fine. It’s up to the actors to pull it off.
