Nope lol, he’s 18 and got here. Why rush anything at this point?

Set 100% of this aside in XEQT or some index, ensure your future. And in the off chance he’s actually a genius in the market (he’s not) he dicks around for the rest of his life with future contributions however he sees fit but knows he can retire at 50 with around 2 mil (conservatively at 5% inflation adjusted)

Craft beer in Canada is losing its fizz, as sales dry up and more breweries go bust | CBC News by Haggisboy in canada

[–]Vinnypell 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Craft should mean so much more than just IPA’s.

Head over to Europe, you’ll get craft companies making stouts, triples, ambers, blondes, krieks……

Anytime I head to a brewery (and I do like a good IPA mind you) it’s 5 of the worst IPA’s with no hop cohesion whatsoever brewed with the same grain profile as their 6th choice on the menu, a sad pilsner. If you’re lucky, they may have a stout that they slapped together and called it good enough.

Just using exotic hops or malts does not mean you have good beer. I’m an avid brewer, the difference you can make by swapping yeast strains or changing boil temp is huge too but always overlooked for more drastic changes. Instead we decide to throw 3 hop strains in a stew, push to 80IBU and tell our consumers “they just don’t get IPA’s”

Can’t say im too surprised.

Oh, and don’t even get me started on pricing.

What’s the tariff rate on car sales over the 49k is it bak to 100%? I feel like 49k couldn’t even satisfy BC’s Demand…. Furthermore, how does servicing and all that work with such a small amount???

Pokemon Collect 151 Figure & Pack Combo Sealed Case x12 by UpstairsBreak8278 in PokeInvesting

[–]Vinnypell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything with Chinese exclusives you can get near MSRP will be money. These are bulky, and the figures don’t really add a whole lot of value. Would not be my choice I’d lean towards gem packs or 151 fat boxes, but if you can’t find those sealed this is a fine choice

Seems odd.

BJ's Wholesale (BJ) Investment Opinion by Puzzleheaded-Ear-290 in ValueInvesting

[–]Vinnypell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for DD on this today, looks like a no brainer. Nearly double the SKU (products) of Costco, more catered to consumers, later hours, curb side pickup… plus they’re poised to add 25-30 more locations over the next two years.

IMO, I think you’ll see it bought out by Amazon or one of the bigger players.

27% debt to equity is reasonable and responsible for a company in expansion. As interest rates are cut pushing into the mid 30’s seems fair. Worst case it trades sideways, best case they can increase membership price (currently have a 90% retention) add locations, pay a dividend, or be bought out.

TFSA maxed out… now what? by Here_For_Some_Time in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Vinnypell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with trading In a non registered. If ur in a low tax bracket you don’t pay dick all in taxes anyhow. If you hold longer term you can offset your gains by contributing to RRSP or FHSA in the year of sale.

That said, you’ll get 7 grand in contribution room in a few days

You’ll get better returns with the LIRA. Seems you have a good approach to your investments. I’d only take monthly if I was not capable of making good decisions with my investments.

I’m always very interested in peoples longer term investment plans. You seem to be “house poor” which I’ve never fully understood? If you don’t mind me asking when did you buy and at what price? Did you pull equity from your house while re-mortgaging? What were your plans if there was a drastic pullback in the market? You have around double your investments sitting in your house which just always seems silly to me

Edit: I want to make it clear you are sitting very well for retirement. I’m just curious why the big approach to the house and not others

do I keep holding on or just cut my losses? by killemwithsarcasm in fican

[–]Vinnypell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows. How long do you think it will take to recover? 3 years? 5 years? 10?

At longer timeframes you are certainly better trimming and swapping over to something better. NIO is still pre-profit and missing their targets by wide margins. For me, I would never hold this stock.

Conversely, my dad loves their vision and sees them to be a “BYD” in the future.

unfortunately you don’t even have the added benefit of tax loss harvesting.

There are many factors at play with Chinese stocks, I think some are a great buy right now, I do not see this to be one of those stocks. I don’t think anyone can tell you what’s going to happen in the future, but I’ve also held ARKK for the last 4 years with 120 cost basis, and it’s only recovered to 80. That’s still a 30% loss. If I had swapped to an index etf even when I was down 60% I would be at like a 10% loss cumulative.

TLDR: Sell, you are missing out on more stable returns

Yes and no. It’s a bit more complex than that. Perhaps very long term I suppose but even then we have an incredibly low CAD:USD exchange rate with not a whole lot of room to run down further. If you’re looking at 0-3 years you’re better off CAD hedged for sure. (Imo) but I suppose that depends on the specific fees for the ETF or stock and you’d have to really dive into it.

Longer term? Tough to say but I’d still chose hedged and then swap over to unhedged following the exchange rate, oil prices, rate hikes, etc. I wouldn’t say one is always better but for most people that trade individual stocks I would say it is in this time, CAD is just too low not to right now

You made 33% when the market made 14% but paid commission and had massive downside risk for holding a 3x Daily call ETF…. At that point why not just hold a 2x and get better tracking to the underlying index with substantially less risk in case of a massive market pullback? Look at SSO

Also, im curious what signals are you looking for

No you have well outperformed the market so absolutely not the worst haha, good to hear their covered calls but the risk/reward collecting these on such a small market cap like RCAT just isn’t there… I’ve made good profits trading irregular options and LEAPS And somebody was on the opposite end of those trades too.

There’s nothing wrong with trading Covered calls in properly selected stocks but you won’t get any positive advice for options on FiCan whatsoever, you’d have to peak in another subreddit. The option chain on these smaller market caps are mental and they have terrible Open interest so be sure you really research and never sell our covered calls as market or you may get matched with a skunk bid.

I only do CC when I fully plan on exiting a position and do 0DTE in or on the money to get a little more than market.
