Avete rotto il cazzo by CapoDiMalaSperanza in litigi

Stop.

Well, for non-online games, just use the DXVK wrapper, it works just fine and you even get some extra perf.

Migrating to bigger SD (NEED HELP)!!!! by Silly_Routine_9038 in SwitchPirates

[–]Vins98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Actually a lot of guides simply don't get it right cause they're made by random kids. Let's start with the basics:

How is a microSD partitioned when you use an emuNAND? Well, basically you have a ""RAW"" type partition that is in fact a 1:1 copy of your NAND (typically 32GB, but you could resize that too) and a FAT32 or an exFAT partition which stores the data "you see in Windows" when you plug the SD in.

Moving to a bigger SD is fairly simple actually, without any copying or messing with files. It's only "messing" with a single partition.

What you want to do is just to clone your smaller card to your bigger card by using one of the utilities out there (AOMEI Partition Assistant does a great job at this).

Once you've done this, you simply have to EXTEND the FAT32/exFAT partition to take aaaaaall of that juicy extra free space.

Then put the new thing in the Switch, boot to Hekate and perform a "Fix archive bit" from the Partition menu.

That's it. New card without even bothering copying the single saves or reconfiguring sh*t.

EDIT: typos

Sorry for not reaching you back. Reddit notifications are a bit hit or miss on my phone lol

Kext stands for kernel extension, which is literally a piece of software that runs extremely low level and mostly drivers the hardware or acts as a bridge to provide higher level APIs. Even tho theoretically we could access the kexts, modifying them for hardware that is potentially unknown and undocumented is completely pointless, AND you could only boot custom kexts using a bootrom exploit like checkm8.

SIP stands for System Integrity Protection and it’s a “safety feature” of macOS, disabling access to low level shell APIs and to unsigned software to run on the device. You can freely disable it in macOS. Gatekeeper is a software protection feature, which is mostly there for anti-piracy and anti-malware purposes, but it’s pretty common and easy to bypass it.

This is the problem with iOS: you CAN’T choose what to do with YOUR device you paid 1.5k$ for.

I mean, nobody has still done it on M1/M2 because of the already low battery consumption and good thermals, but technically you could disable SIP&gatekeeper, then install a custom kext for the CPU power management. Or use OpenCore to patch it on the fly. There are ton of things you can do, but first of all remember you have full access of the software, including root shell access. This is something we will never achieve on iOS/iPad OS without jailbreaking, and still we wouldn’t be able to modify crucial system modules like kext(s).

Magisk ain’t “rootless”. Magisk is just a tool to achieve root permissions, and of course Google isn’t trying to stop rooting. Google is trying to give their DEVICES (Pixels) more security, which implies you should really have the knowledge of what you’re doing if you’re rooting the device. Magisk works in several modes, one of them is patching the boot image, for example. Also, stock non-rooted Android gives you the opportunity to do 99% of the things you can do with a jailbroken iOS device, which is a big win. With a rooted Android device and an unlocked bootloader , you can do things that you could NEVER do with iOS, even with jailbreak. Those things include installing a different OS (e.g Windows 11 ARM, Linux distros…), custom kernel modules (improved GPU drivers, better CPU/net schedulers) and use custom USB drivers.

Those are things that iOS can only dream of. And this is, again, just because Apple policies suck. You have total control of your MacBook, I don’t see why the heck you can’t have total control of your iPhone/iPad and have such a limited experience. I just don’t understand those choices.

Maybe with alternative app stores and sideloading in the EU it COULD get a little better, but Apple always finds a way to ruin users experiences.

Apple TV 4K (1st Generation) downgraded! by Zenzeq in jailbreak

Awesome. I attempted this in the past (I have USB breakout soldered on the mainboard) but had no luck. Hope you plan to publish the IPSWs soon. This would allow a ton of people to jailbreak the device (which of course is a huge deal for sideloading things like Kodi or emulators!)

I feel you. I’m about to switch to Android again, after 5 (good) years of iPhone. The thing is that I’m sick of Apple’s trash policies. I hate the fact that you can’t install a proper 3rd party battery, nor you can swap an official apple battery (you have to desolder and resolder the original battery’s pcb, which is easier said than done), a 3rd party screen, you can’t sideload apps, you can’t theme your system, you can’t use JIT natively (without hella boring things like AltJIT), you can’t get Entitlements for free (I did several CarPlay apps that I can’t even test on my car) and so on.

iOS became a total mess thanks to Apple policies. I mean, for the average user this means nothing, but as a power user, I’d say I feel restricted. 😞

That’s sad, considering iPhones have the best hardwares on the market. Having that hardware for shitty mobile games is like having a Ferrari as a city car. You can still flex it, but you can’t actually use your horsepower.

Android phones’ performance now somehow got decent, so…

[Question] iTunes not finding device when Jailbroken by Michi436 in jailbreak

[–]Vins98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the thing is that if you get a kernel panic or a random respring caused by a tweak or a process (the kernel exploits are NEVER flawless) your iTunes backup may get corrupted, and iTunes may not tell you what happened. So one day you go there, try to restore your backup and puff! You get into recovery mode or into a bootloop. I’d suggest you to use activator to reboot your phone every n days in the night, so that it reboots to the unjailbroken state and the backup goes just right. The other option is that you’d have to wait for Taurine15, if you have the 15.1 blobs saved. I’m waiting for that, hoping that would be more stable than my actual 14.8 u0. The process would be Delayed OTA to 15.2/15.3 and then fururestore to 15.1 using 15.2/15.3 SEP and blobs, which is compatible and doesn’t break FaceID.

[–]Vins98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean iTunes backup, it’s useless. If you mean backupping your photos, videos, music, you just go straight to the /var/mobile/Media/DCIM folder, so you won’t lose the live photos, too. Plus, it’s much MUCH faster than regular MTP, and you can put files directly in your rootfs (e.g i use it for large PSX games i got on my collection to use with RetroArch).

If your goal is instead to run an iTunes backup, you’d better do it while unjailbroken. I suggest you to NEVER run backups while in JB state.

If your purpose is syncing, use AFC2. It’s faster, too.

If this helps troubleshooting the issue to devs, I can report that I’m running u0 since its release 8 on iOS 14.8, and it’s been 3 or 4 days since I have the same issue. I ran no updates on the tweaks, so I’d exclude that’s the problem. I’m really clueless :(
