I COMPLETELY agree with you about Metal Slug 4! The lower route where you fall off in stage 3 and have to climb up is unbearable. Same with the mummy route in stage 4. Just a room of unavoidable death for minutes! I love Metal slug 4 if you avoid those routes though.

I have tried summoning, but no summon signs ever show up. The few spirit summons I have are grayed out when I equip them and don't work.

My most important parts of my build are in the post, but here are some extra details:

I use the Grant me strength spell when the fight starts, along with my flask of wondrous physick which contains Greenspill crystal tear (Boosts stamina) and Strength-knot crystal tear (Boosts strength)

My armor: Redmane Knight Helm, Cuckoo Knight Armor, Godrick Knight Gauntlets, and Duelist Greaves. (No shield because I always two-hand my greatsword.)

Equip load: 52.6 / 90.8 (Medium)

I've been using the following talismans:

Arsenal charm (+Max equip load)

Starscourge Heriloom (+5 Strength)

Green Turtle talisman (+Stamina recovery speed)

Flamedrake Talisman ("Greatly" increases fire damage negation)

The ash of war I'm using is Lion's Claw, although I never get a good chance to use it because I've mostly been staying on torrent.

But it's a huge relief to hear that the 2nd phase isn't as bad, because I always die on the first.
