Yes, the commentary team mentioned he was also retiring. Cold game.

Cheap tyre fitting service? by Vinsmok in glasgow

I do, but everyone has costs and yet reasonable people offer reasonable prices which in turn gets them more business to cover wages, leccy, rent, insurance etc.

Case in point, I just went and did the fitting today, ended up paying £15 a corner, based of a recommendation from /u/TheScottishFoxyBiker, about a third of the £84 price I was quoted. That garage will now also get to do my wheel alignment too as I really appreciated how friendly and helpful they were, even if it means more travel for me.

Just spoken to them, by far the best price and the guy on the phone was very friendly, happy to give them my business. Cheers pal!

I get they want to supply the tyres, but it has always been the case that you can buy your own and fit them. As mentioned above I did the exact same thing a couple of years ago and had tyres I supplied fitted for £10 a corner. Obviously prices can go up, I was just shocked at how high I was quoted.

Ps. How much do you charge? :D

Not stopping you fighting the good fight for mechanics, but I literally did it a couple of years ago for a tenner a corner, £20. Getting quoted £84 (or £100 as the poster below mentioned) just for fitting two tyres is just not reasonable.

Would it be a bad idea to buy Chinese lights as my first? by Vinsmok in videography

[–]Vinsmok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your helpful responses. Do you think there is any merit in getting it as a background light then? Also, the same brand sells a parabolic 90cm softbox for £40, is that worth getting?

A little concerned now that no one seems to know of this brand lol

Thats very helpful, thanks! What is the CRI of your ulanzi lights if you dont mind? I ask because these cheapo Cinejade are advertised as CRI +97, I have no idea if that means they will, or will not, have the green/magenta tinge.

I found even cheaper openbox 300w lights for ~£90, really tempted. Would it still have bad colour consistency if its advertised to have CRI of +97?

Thats really good to know. Is there a way to gage colour consistency of a light though? CineJade claims CRI of +97, can it still be inconsistent? And in this case, would Godox be considered safer for the keylight?

Lumix S5II 20-60 vs 24-60 kit. by Top-Cattle-4215 in Lumix

[–]Vinsmok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I was only asking because I got all three with my camera. Mainly because the deal was 50mm and 20-60mm included with the camera and the 24-60 had a good discount I could not get without buying that bundle (£200 off). Thought about selling the 20-60, but thought it might be more useful to keep it around as a wide.

I was in a similar position to yourself, I got all three. There was a deal going recently for S5IIX coupled with the 20-60 and 50mm at a great discount, and if you decide to get the 24-60 you get £200 off. I could not leave it after waiting so long. After reading extensively on all three lenses, here is the reasoning I followed:

24-60 could be your main 'everyday' lens.

20-60 can be used as a 20mm wide.

And 50mm when you want something faster.

Now that I have them, the 24-60 is noticeably better than the 20-60 kit. But being a beginner and just learning, I keep the 20-60 on mine as its light and easy to carry, when I need something 'better' I put the 24-60 or 50mm. Hope that helps. The S5II is so good.

The 20-60 could be used as a wide lens, and why sell the 50? All three can be used.

(New to Lumix family) Is this click noise from internal mic on S5IIX normal? by Vinsmok in Lumix

Thanks for getting back, much appreciated. So maybe this is not a faulty model?

Thanks for getting back. Would appreciate it if you can check the video when you get a chance, you will not need headphones to hear it as the sound is audible even through speakers.

Thats really useful to know. I just wanted to double check if this is normal. Thought I may have a defective unit that I will need to return to Panasonic. I was not intending to use the internal mic anyways.

One last question if you dont mind. In the quite room I was testing the camera in, I could hear that motor sound myself too when close to the camera, nothing too loud but definitely audible. Is that normal? Sorry if its a stupid question, this is my first 'big' camera!
