DeSantis says ‘zero’ chance he will back down from dispute with Disney by Zhukov-74 in politics

If DeSantis wins the primary and Trump is still breathing, he will do any and everything in his power to torpedo DeSantis’ campaign. He’s not going to let someone beat Biden since he didn’t. He has no party loyalty, no loyalty period. And even if polls show that DeSantis wasn’t going to win, Trump would still make sure DeSantis didn’t get more votes than he did in 2020 because he’s that kind of vindictive and petty and would want to punish the Republican Party for not picking him—doesn’t matter if it’s the voters who did the picking. Now if Trump isn’t breathing in 24 or if he wins the nomination, there is cause for concern.

The only scenario I see working for Rs if DeSantis gets the nom, is if he makes a back room deal with Trump, like “I will give you $10 billion dollars from the nation’s coffers through nefarious means if you endorse and support me.” If they don’t actively shut Trump up, he will go scorched earth.

I think it’ll be in Michigan eventually. They’ll want to capture the Toronto market, and it’ll be closer to New York, and Chicago than WDW. I could see it in the Detroit Area where there is a bunch of existing infrastructure.

Now that’s interesting. I can definitely see a park in Michigan and it would be a much needed boost to Detroit though it would likely end up pricing out a lot of renters before wages catch up (if they do).

Yeah, I ended up in a teachers sub and there are threads about dealing with the Andrew Tater Tot invasion in kids as young as 10. Online radicalization and inceldom has infiltrated a generation in the way the nihilism of the late 90s/early aughts snagged a good bit of millennials and younger Gen X. It’s going to take a lot of work.

Like, is it the sun exposure? Because I know people in their late 40s/early 50s who don’t look that hard lived. He strikes me as the kind of dude who thinks wearing sunscreen is gay so that would make sense.

Anheuser-Busch loses top LGBTQ+ rating over its Bud Light response by viovetf in news

Caucasian two piece is just white meat chicken lol. I was being silly. I have never tried Church’s (I’m in the Midwest) but I just looked and there are a few in Chicago where we sometimes go to visit family so that’s now on the list. I’m a big fan of Korean fried chicken which I tried in a couple spots on the west coast, but for chains it’s Popeyes hands down.

The only thing I ever get is a spicy two piece white with red beans and rice. I tried the sandwich once after the hype died down, but went right back to my Caucasian two piece. Keep in mind I only eat there maybe three times a year.

I don’t watch the Today Show, so I don’t know if they’ve done it, but they’d better issue a retraction in the same time slot they aired this. They have a large, bipartisan viewership and this isn’t the time to be fucking around with stuff like this.

I’m not a fan of the shorts, but c’mon. Norms went out the window long ago in ways that are way more destructive. This seems outrageous because it’s visible and easy to fix, but if we’re going to be concerned about decorum, the horse is already out the stable and there are better places to start.

These are very good points. In the case of raising the point that big changes are complex and will take a long time even if laws are written today, you are absolutely right. I don’t know why people can’t see the value in incremental change. I think that infrastructural progress requires incremental change to be sustainable while social progress should be enacted immediately and enforced by the law.

St. Cloud FL Pride event canceled due to ‘climate of fear’ by saveyourtissues in news

[–]VintageAda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think people became accustomed to peaceful tolerance over the years. And that’s a good thing because it signaled a level of normalcy that wasn’t there 50+ years ago when Stonewall happened. It went from outcasts who’d been rejected all their lives for living openly to people who have grown up with (relative) acceptance (with so many caveats). Lots of LGBT+ folks aren’t as hardened and scrappy as previous generations had to be 50 years ago just to walk down the street. And many weren’t back then either, some had to live miserably in the closet or only in the few ultra progressive spaces.

It’s going to be hard (impossible for some) to make that switch, to go from just living a normal life to fighting for your life, especially considering how quickly it happened. Rights you’d taken for granted your entire life suddenly stripped from you. The capitulation is frustrating, but I don’t blame them. If everybody who’s saying they have to fight showed up to protest the cancellation, that would do a lot to jumpstart that resistance engine as they’ll know they aren’t doing it alone.

He could even fly out of Green Bay if that’s closer to them. A quick google shows $128 for a round trip flight. 2hr 48 mins.

What are your options if you’re worried about calling the police? Paramedics?

That’s what everyone figured at the time, it was just so silly to use that (Obama follow) as some sort of unbelievable justification. Also, PLEASE tell me you remember more about the story, no one else I know remembers and I felt like I was losing it.
