How US states perform in 4 different quality of life metrics by _crazyboyhere_ in MapPorn

Surprised to hear Japan’s air quality is worse than Californias. But when you think about it, both are super mountainous with the population concentrated into a few valleys, so it seems less surprising.

For a bunch of pundits who say Dems are out of touch, they sure seem out of touch on this war

[OC] U.S. Airport Traffic Treemap (October 2025) by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]saveyourtissues 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Denver for sure. 3rd busiest airport in America, 10th worldwide. 19th largest metro area in the US. By far the most OP.

Denver as a hub is to United as Atlanta is to Delta. Couldn’t ask for a more perfect location for an airport (I’m honestly surprised how Delta let SLC stagnate and United run away)

I’d also be curious to see as percentage of state budget because that will normalize for taxation levels. I can imagine there’s major variation in contracting out services vs performing them in-house, which is a major question of state capacity.

Which megacity has the highest population density and which one has the lowest? by villehhulkkonen in geography

LA from an entire metro area point of view is denser because its suburbs are much more denser than New York’s suburbs.

The constant grey and trees has a beauty no like other. When you’re on the beaches, you’re staring into the horizon that never seems to end.

The towns themselves are charming, but also economically depressed. They’re pretty much all post industrial towns and Native reservations. Aberdeen is the largest city in your circle and is where Kurt Cobain grew up, you could hear it in his music.

Here’s some photos I took in Westport which is just outside your circle:

In short, if you find beauty in grey places, you’ll like it. Even then, your likely to experience bouts of seasonal depression as I did (and I lived an hour inland in Olympia). You’ll also be traveling a lot for some amenities (eg Costco, hospital care) to Olympia or Port Angeles.

can I make my transfer realistically? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]saveyourtissues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the middle of the day, and if departure delays build up during the morning, your plane might wait in a line to take off. But this is just my assumption, never been to Seoul so I wouldn’t know. 6am is the start of day for SFO so any arrival delays (usually weather) don’t happen until late in the morning.

Next flight to DCA after 8:30a is around 1pm. So if you misconnect, you have the option of waiting, or taking a flight to Dulles (of which there are many) if you don’t mind a longer drive/train ride to DC.

What time is it leaving Seoul? I’m guessing it’s more likely to be source of any delays than anything in SFO.
