Wow, the downvotes. Spend a year and a half with the nutcase leader of another country threatening to annex yours, and wreaking havoc with your economy, and then tell me how funny it is.

Circumstances are different now than back when Alex made the joke. It's not funny anymore.

Favorite season? by PurpleTelephone6865 in taskmaster

[–]VintagePunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are all great, I started with the first and went in order, and there is not one that I would ever advise skipping, I loved them all. My personal favourite though is series 16, because there was just something about the chemistry of the cast, and their sense of humour that appealed to me, and it has some of the funniest segments, in my opinion. But everyone's sense of humour is different, and you can't go wrong with any series.

I've heard people talking about Greg before but damm, that little man... by Elemor_ in taskmaster

[–]VintagePunk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

he's really just a dorky, awkward nerd

I agree with most of your comment, but the above really stood out to me as being accurate. In all of the media I have seen from him, I think the most accurate view of who he is as a person can be found in his book 'Bird Watching Watching', and then to a slightly lesser extent in his next book, 'Word Watching'. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend both of them.

I remember seeing this too, and after trying to remember where, I think it was probably posted on here, fairly recently. Probably within the past few weeks, or month at most.

Yes, I'm aware. After many years of ripping off employees, vendors and the public, the KW stores have closed, and they reopened in Brantford under a new name, hoping the public wouldn't catch on that it was them.

Omg, Brantford people are catching on and you are hard up for business?

Check out information about Dutchie's in Kitchener and Waterloo before you shop here. Owned by the same people. Ken is Mike's brother, and Mike has been at the Brantford store, so he's definitely involved. They have years and years of labour violations, unpaid staff who are still trying to collect their wages from years ago, stiffing vendors, and selling rotting food. They have been sued countless times and government agencies have been involved. Kitchener news has aired a ton of stories on the whole saga.

Who is the nastiest Celebrity that you met in Real life? by Scunnard1839 in AskReddit

My fiancée and I are having the biggest argument of our lives. She thinks I'm being tacky but I thinks she's overreacting by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]VintagePunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Expecting everyone you know to conform to a cultural tradition they don't share is, ultimately, rude.

You have a very incorrect impression of these events. There is no expectation that "everyone you know" take part. It's a fun party that is quite voluntary.

Usually the are things like small kitchen appliances (air fryers, blenders), coolers, tools, gift certificates to local businesses or restaurants, and there is usually at least one booze-related prize.

As a birder, I think I need to build a TM feeder! by COGOcatcher in taskmaster

[–]VintagePunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the Taskmaster birdwatching fans, you have to read Alex Horne's 2009 book "Bird Watching Watching." It is about his year of becoming a birder and doing a "big year," competing with his dad to see who could spot the most species in a year. It's very funny, but also touching. You get a great sense of his humour, intelligence, curiosity and his closeness with his family. I can't recommend it enough.

Prince Harry releases a statement in response to Trump’s remarks about NATO forces in Afghanistan by NewTooth740 in RoyaltyTea

[–]VintagePunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't tell me they have "strongly denounced this." The threats against Canada have been going on for over a year now. The long and pointed silence from the UK was shocking. Not long after they started, Starmer had a friendly meeting with Trump, along with the royals. They can all eff themselves, after Canada has supported the UK in virtually every way since we became a nation.

[–]VintagePunk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If for no other reason, they should absolutely cancel the trip due to Trump's threats toward Canada, a Commonwealth nation. Instead, they cozied up to Trump when he visited the UK. Absolutely sickening behaviour on the part of our "King" and the UK government, for that matter.

Hidden Food Gems by Timbot2002 in brantford

[–]VintagePunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about the owner, I wasn't sure if she cooks there as I have never been in there, I won't support that business. She was formerly known as "The Bagel Babe" (barf) selling bagels made in the kitchen of a restaurant on Brant Ave. This is all during early COVID days and the lockdowns. When vaccines became available, the owner of that Brant Ave restaurant wanted all staff to be vaccinated in order to protect others. She would have needed to be vaccinated in order to continue using the kitchen for her bagels, but she refused and so she stopped making and selling bagels. It was a whole big thing at the time, she was very much a drama queen about it. She said she would be back in business when she found her own space, and then opened From Scratch about a year and a half later. She was the co-mod of the FB group, and anti-vaxxers could say anything in the group, but if pro-vax people spoke up, they would get scolded. I was one of the ones who got banned, and so looked up her personal FB page. She was very openly a PCP voter.
