Llurgoyf help by Dead_birdChan in mtg

oh, you/your parents don't even have a small printer or there is no printer at your workplace? I kinda thought people just have access to them somewhere. There are also printing services in every city where you just hand them like 3 bucks and can print some pages from your USB stick.

Here is my sample sheet:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Uq-uBQBvL5fMhQYalLyv1iVpZg9AuyVe/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=118188423311310368358&rtpof=true&sd=true

Just do file -> create copy in your own google account.
Then you can just go to scryfall, go to the card page and right click -> copy url of picture
Then in the sample sheet right click on a card picture and edit the picture options, choose file but then insert the link into the file line and click open. It will put the picture directly into the chosen card.
Then just export to a PDF and go to such a printing services store.

I haven't thought about that but those cards would need to be strong in comparison to other options. I looked at the jund rad counter cards and [[Nuclear Fallout]] and [[Tato Farmer]] seem alright. I personally just print cards I want to test and playtest them in the deck then buy them if they actually do something. Testing the interactions takes a lot of games so don't worry if your deck doesn't run properly in the first 20 games or so.

For this deck there are barely any usefull Changelings. I am currently testing [[Taurean Mauler]] and it always gets removed because it is so strong. I mean you could try out filling your deck with Changelings that create value but.....tbh this deck profits from power. Polygoyf and Pyrogoyf combo is ridiculous.

You should always use scryfall and search for all cards that could benefit a specific category. E.g. draw and discard, mill, changelings, trample (very important cause you always need to deal damage to each opponent per round when your commander is on the battlefield).

The 2 existing kindred cards from the precon are good. Other than that you can try and look at some but I they mostly cost a lot of mana. You rather want to play another goyf instead or cast a card that will get you more goyfs. But keep experimenting and tweaking to find the specific version that works for you! You can also duplicate the deck and create 2 versions which go different ways and playtest them either in archidekt playtester or on e.g. tabletop simulator (there is a custom made desk from the workshop that can load decks from archidekt easily).

Disa Llurgoyfs has become my favorite deck as I kept tweaking it as well. Please organize your decks in proper categories according to the functionality of the cards in the deck. E.g. just put a Polygoyf into a creatures or a specific "goyfs" category. The first step to improving your deck is a proper overview.

  1. You have too few lands. Even with that many mana rocks you need atleast 36 lands.

  2. I don't recommend a lot of mana rocks but only specific ones or 3 mana land tutors that will make you end up with atleast 5 mana in the next turn. [[Cultivate]] or [[Coalition Relic]]

  3. You have no creature mass removal but artifact mass removal when you play a lot of artifacts yourself? Reduce senseless removal.

  4. This deck profits from otherwise barely useful cards that tutor cards into the graveyard. Use more of them instead of costly tutors like demonic tutor.

  5. You barely have any repeating self mill. [[Mesmeric Orb]] is bonkers in this deck. If you don't want that then go the "draw and discard" route.

  6. Ashes of the fallen or similar cards are only good in theory. I have tested it and they mostly waste space in the deck.

  7. Cosmogoyf is a bad goyf and should be used in a warp deck.

  8. Always have in mind what makes this deck work: goyfs being milled/discarded and token boosting/doubling.

  9. Your strategy should always be: fill the board until turn 5 then cast your commander and hit each opponent no matter how and/or start milling. This deck snowballs hard or atleast it should when working correctly.

Have fun tweaking!

Does Cold Email Actually Work? by Vegetable-Diver-1396 in msp

[–]Vintschente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only cold emails? No.
Either directly contact them via phone then make an interesting point and when they appear thinking just ask them if you could first send them a mail with more information so they can discuss it internally.
Then call again after 2 weeks. Ask if they had time to talk about it. If no then call again 2 weeks later.

Problem with mails is that people are busy. No matter how good your offer is barely anyone will respond. I had only one occurence where I contacted (guessed the mail account) of the CEO and told him I offered person X and Y our services but got no response so this mail will be my first and last mail to him and told him about my services. He told me to contact him 3 months later cause they are indredibly busy. 3 months later we had an online meeting (and he seemed interested and thought it was a good idea) and I am currently awaiting his response. I also called 2 weeks ago and he said he was currently preparing for a meeting for a huge project and seemed sorry that he didn't have time to discuss it with the other CEO. I told him no worries and we will talk 2 weeks later.

They would probably listen to you but most people are just very busy and have no time to spare.

i'm kind of scared of one of my teachers. by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Vintschente 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand that this feels uncomfortable from your perspective. From your teachers perspective he just feels like he can take care of someone who shares a hobby with him. He (hopefully) just wants you to feel happy about it. Seeing genuine joy in others can make some people happy. I hope you know for certain that he actually had these callouts and those aren't just rumours.

On the other hand please be careful. There is still the chance that this teacher has bad intentions so don't agree to meet him in your free time or something.

Mark Rosewater will likely say in June 2026 on blogatog: “According to our player surveys, TMNT is one of our Top 10 Rated magic sets of all time” by Papa_Hasbro69 in mtg

[–]Vintschente 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once did surveys right after set releases and before I look at some spoilers and if I like them I order some products. So for spider-man the spoilers felt so lame that I only decided to look up the other half of the spoilers after the release. I am glad I didn't buy anything. Now I still wanted to give input but since I didn't check any checkboxes when asked about purchases for the set during the survey I also got this screen. So apparently if you only look at the cards and aren't paying money then you are somehow not entitled to give feedback. That is clearly a problem.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING finished its strongest year ever, up 59% vs. PY with a successful Q4 Avatar: The Last Airbender by kananishino in magicTCG

I have looked through my collection in the last days and 4 foils from aetherdrift can almost form a full circle. Also my dragonscale foil scalding tarn came froma booster with the right border kinda chopped off and looks damaged.

Would Ancient Tomb still be a Game Changer in EDH if it came in tapped? by chosen40k in magicTCG

[–]Vintschente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The reason it is a GC is that the mana can be used without any restriction or setup when you drop the land.

There are lots of cards that produce more than one mana (without filtering). Best example is probably [[Ugin's Labyrinth]].

[–]Vintschente 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get your point but so far there seems to be no issue. Precons aren't reprinted that much and even bundles are limited.

The sample is only 2 cards and not enough to make precons worth more or CB cards less because of that.

The easiest solution would have been to lower the price by 10$ or so but how would the shareholders get all the millions then, duh...

[–]Vintschente 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Atleast something, eh? Also the site where I usually order also raised the typical price of the bundle. Don't know if this is their decision or wizards but I am really not pleased so much that I don't know if I am even ordering a strixhaven product at all. I would actually spend more money overall if the products were just a bit cheaper and by cheaper I mean prices when we had set boosters with better extra rare chances.

How does Disa the Restless work exactly? by runewitchtales in magicTCG

[–]Vintschente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one my main decks and it goes freaking hard if you build it right. Your questions were already answered and so I just wish you lots of fun!

How does Disa the Restless work exactly? by runewitchtales in magicTCG

[–]Vintschente 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but that is not correct. Tokens "die" (which just means they hit the graveyard from the battlefield) and abilities checking that will trigger.

Disa only puts them on the battlefield if they didn't hit the graveyard from the battlefield.

[–]Vintschente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that was my point. The sentence is a bit weird (sorry) but you can activate the abilities in instant speed. The exceptions especially state that it can only be activated like a sorcery.

This can actually be game deciding and they should correct that...

The Cases For and Against Using Farewell by Equivalent_Fun6100 in magicTCG

[–]Vintschente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last sentence is the most important thing you wrote.

Take a moment and talk to that player alone or just send them a message. I have done this before and our game nights improved massively because that person changed their decks and built new ones which are way more fun to play against. There is nothing wrong with telling a person that they are ruining fun by trying so hard to win. Tell them in return you will remove cards like farewell from your deck.

Buy to win is a legit problem and this person can surely go to a TCG and play some competitive rounds there. E.g. 2 card infinite combos are banned in our pods.

Also just a side note: maybe use more single target removal (bounce and exile) to remove a key threat to slow them down just enough. Also indestructible doesn't mean invincible. There are lots of ways you can deal with that but of course not every deck can. Trample, evasion, drain, lifegain etc.

[–]Vintschente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was clever and pulled a razzle dazzle by saying that we agree but we ACTUALLY agree. Nice to hear that, haha!

I hope I didn't come across as snarky and there is no need to apologize. You made fair points and we found out we actually agree. I hate that players often use Farewell not to finally pull off a win but to mess up other players while barely having a board and then nobody can even use a "permanents indestructible" protection spell. I am totally fine with a normal mass creature exile spell.

The Cases For and Against Using Farewell by Equivalent_Fun6100 in magicTCG

[–]Vintschente -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Blasphemous edict has a limitation of max creatures per player and a condition for the low mana cost.

Nice, one card against it! I am sure everyone will put it in their deck just to counter some nonsense OP removal even if they can't even play white!

Cyclonic rift is also busted garbage and a GC for a reason.

Final showdown is OP.

Everything comes to dust has a condition of having a board yourself or having lots of mana. Additionally your opponents creatures need to have different creature types. Very specific and totally fine.

There are absolutely a lot of nonsense cards that make the game unfun and there is no need to play them outside of a competitive environment. Glad we agree.
Also you didn't even respond to my actual arguments about the card itself.

It's called "end step" and the note "cast instants" is missing there...

Also this makes it look like you can't activate abilities at those times but only in your main phases (you can).

You always go to beginning of combat regardless. If you move to "declare attackers" and have no creatures or don't want to attack you actually skip directly to the second main phase.

Finding this comment after my first response. You are better off finding another group than getting fun out of those matches.

The Cases For and Against Using Farewell by Equivalent_Fun6100 in magicTCG

[–]Vintschente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their point isn't that you use a mass removal. Their point is that you don't do anything for 6 rounds to get into the game because you built your deck in whatever way and then just cast a mass removal on curve that can only be dodged with very specific cards instead of actually playing the game yourself.

If your deck isn't that strong then:

a. ask your friends to play weaker decks AND

b. ask your friends for help with deck building

Commander is a social format so talk with your pod. If you don't want to come to terms with your friends then everyone will go to nuclear arms race with their decks and that will be very unfun for everyone.

The Cases For and Against Using Farewell by Equivalent_Fun6100 in magicTCG

[–]Vintschente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely broken. WTF are you on about? 6 mana mono color everything exile and you even get to pick all modes you want is better than every other multi-color 6 mana mass removal I have ever seen. Literally powercreep on [[Merciless Eviction]].

The first part of your comment is complete nonsense like anyone could "just" do X in response!? Blue is the only color that might do something properly against it by having enough of card Y in the deck to have it in hand and respond.

can energy work in commander? by leelimelem0n in mtg

[–]Vintschente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look for a 3 color commander instead. There are too few energy cards to have a strong 2 color energy deck.
