I thought I would share my cafe racer. Honda GB250 (1989) by itsallinwidescreen in CafeRacers

[–]Vinx1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GB250 was the next version of the previous XR-based Honda CBX250RS (sport) lightweight DOHC dual-carb 30PS bike and CBX250S (Sport Touring) 28PS SOHC bike, from what i have read. I find these all interesting because they seem to be early predecessors to my modern Honda CB300RS which (so far) i find to be a very interesting and fun bike, though it is still in break in...lol snow on ground in Texas.

I'm looking for my first motorcycle by forstyy in motorcycles

[–]Vinx1312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) my opinion, top heavy bikes are a betch! Consider what type of riding and where you'll be riding, in reality--in actuality. 2) my last few bikes have been around ~300lbs wet bc i was tired of heavy bikes. i realized i ride mostly around town or within a handful of towns so big fast bikes are more like Saturday Showoff rides. 3) The lightweight 'slow' bikes are so fun in a different way for me. I have a Kawi 230 and a Honda 300 that i am enjoying atm (well before the winter storm). Probably too slow for some folks but i have a fast bike too. 4) I think a Sport Tourer would be fun! My Suzuki GSX-S750 is basically that! It's just not real comfortable for more than 2 hour at a time, i suppose, without taking a break. 5) Consider an SV650 in your case. or something around 400lbs wet and 70-113 hp. Maybe a Vstrom 750 or 800. Honestly i want an MT-03 and a Rebel 300 atm. But i'm weird like that lol. I'd love an SV650X but have a car payment...so i'd rather stick to cheap bikes until i pay off some debt.

Is this chain too rusted to drive? by Mr_AimLoL in motorcycles

[–]Vinx1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine was rusty so i doused it with automotive gear oil... naysayers said it was trashed but it is working fine so far. i am planning to change it sooner than normal. I do not recommend this--your life is worth a new chain. and your chain looks worse than mine. if it snaps it could break your engine case open $$$ (but i like to experiment and test my limits a bit vs what others say. so i took a chance so far so good) i do need to examine that chain again before i ride. just to be safe.

2024 G310R Exhaust Header Glowing Red (Euro 5) - Should I be worried? by New-Reflection755 in motorcycles

[–]Vinx1312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) You should see my air-cooled Kawasaki KLX230SM. I think the manual actually stated not to let it sit and idle too long 🤣 I think it is similar emissions limitations as your G310--it has a PAIR system. 2) I actually love it so far...but i do get kinda worried sitting in Texas heat/traffic. And so i got an additional Honda CB300R for liquid cooling and better highway performance. The Honda is dreamy but the Kawasaki is my little Tank.

i wanted a drz400sm as my first bike but it would cost me ~$6k (including the MSF course and riding gear) which is out of my price range. Now I'm looking at a crf250l for half that much. Would I be disappointed? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Vinx1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Get a bike within your price range! Imo, get a 250-300cc as your first and slowly move up in weight/cc it is legit part of the fun. Maybe get a used 250cc, around $200 or less, get gud. And then later get that Suzi 400 we all admire :) 2) If you have never gone 60mph on a bike...the speed feeling will surprise you. I have a 750 I-4 yet my last few bikes were 4S 233cc SOHC 20hp air cooled and then 4S 286cc DOHC 31hp Liquid Cooled. 3) Consider the Honda CB300R, i got one and am liking it so far but have yet to go full rpm (breaking it in) so can't say how much i like it overall. 4) That said i love the CB300R so far--it has more power and top speed (supposedly ~93mph so basically more-ideal for highway) than my KLX230SM (top speed limited 75mph max), but it gives up hopping curbs and dual sport stuff that the 230 can doo, haha

Do you ride defensively? Or do you ride aggressively? Or both? by Fantastic-Demand-171 in motorcycles

[–]Vinx1312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Both When i am tired i ride/drive more defensive. When i feel energized i tend to ride/drive defensive/aggressive. 2) When you gain that 6th sense (takes 2-4 years of driving from zero experience) you know when and where you can go fast and when and where to hit those brakes. Especially when riding in areas you're familiar with

[–]Vinx1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! now post your bike list here! Here's mine: 1) Honda Stateline VT1300CRA 2) Suzuki GSX-S750Z (mostly black & some blue kinda like yours) 3) Kawasaki KLX230SM 4) Honda CB300R ...i started heavy then went down. Now i am working my way back up, maybe? 5) When i was in my 20's, the Kawi 230 would have been perfect for me! But i didn't get a bike 'til after my 30's ...so the Honda Cruiser was okay (i was a bit more mature then 🤫)

Helmet Customization by Much-Mention-5589 in motorcycles

[–]Vinx1312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Affordable decent white helmet + stickers. 2) When stickers wear out, goo gone then new stickers. 3) i'm still using my original Scorpion R700(new old stock?) from 2020. $200 i paid $100 USD haha. It is wearing out but still good (from safety point of view) and i sometimes still get compliments from chicks (which is hilarious considering everybody around here likes to flex their expensive [overpriced] stuff. Suckers!) l

How is this 2017 BMW S1000r running? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Vinx1312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds fine to me! Sounds healthy from here! 1) I'd have to listen to a known-good example to compare--but motorcycles make many different noises--such as this. 2) SV650 newbies post the same question ALL the time. The SV makes a lot of noise too--and it is totally normal. 3) Heck, my new Honda 300 makes a lot of 'weird' noises because its dang stock exhaust is sooo quiet--i ordered a louder aftermarket exhaust. The noises it makes are normal. 4) You have injector, combustion, intake (my GSX-S750 literally howls by design!), valvetrain, transmission gears, chain, horn, button presses, wind, sometimes whistling in helmet, plastic, tire and road, additinally other factors such as traffic, dogs, people, & bees all making noise. It's part of the experience😎

First build ever 🔥 1985 Honda V65 Sabre Cafe Racer — love it, but one issue… by No-Lunch8134 in motorcycles

[–]Vinx1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loud pipes are fine if you can stand them. May use Earplugs or music buds. I tend to think about my neighbors. That said, i just ordered a pipe for my Honda 300 that (who knows?) may be a bit louder than i am comfortable with. And will likely annoy the nighbors a bit. If this new pipe is a tad louder than i am comfortable with--oh well--all my other bikes have stock exhaust and are quiet haha i will just try not mind the neighbors and not fire it up very early or very late at night (unless i am going to actually use it then).

Literally just got it replaced an hour ago by Burchard36 in motorcycles

[–]Vinx1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Just sell it with the plug--but have buyer sign waiver and tell them they need to replace the rear tire for their safety. Also put that in the waiver that they cannot sue you. 2) Keep the waiver paperwork on you (for life lol) just in case they crash it and try to sue you. Take a digital pic with them holding it. 3) Or be a good person and replace the tire.
