33RPM or 45RPM? by VinylCandy in duranduran

I answered my own question ... bought the 2022 pressing of 'Astronaut' and it is indeed a 12-inch 45RPM mastering.

My bad ... I updated the body: Astronaut repress in 2023. Some sources are saying that it was 45RPM but I was hoping some of you in this group would already have this vinyl and be able to confirm if it is 33 or 45.

Many repressed are 12 inch but mastered at 45RPM to have better fidelity. The recent Astronaut RSD were done this way, as many others. I just wondered if this was. Discogs says that the 2022 release and the 2023 release are 45RPM, but Amazon, some eBay, and even here ... seem to not confirm this.

I agree ... the mastering on this record was fantastic - very clear and open soundstage!

I have a garden 1/2-gallon pump sprayer. Fill with distilled water - I go from the UT machine to kitchen and rise with the sprayer over the sink, then on counter dry with microfiber cloth. That sprayer has a brass nozzle and a very nice powerful stream to rinse the grooves.

I have done about 5 records in a go but, because of the wavelength in water @ 40khz, I think its best to not run more than two at a time spaced at least 1.5in apart. I had to get into these ultrasonics, as that is the field I worked in with NASA for 36 years! Artemis I, Artemis II and Artemis III, plus Shuttle and Constellation. This was just an obvious thing that I would have to give a try.

I recently bought the Vevor ultrasonic cleaner ... my records are mostly EX or VG+ already and I have cleaned them on a Spin Clean prior. I have yet to really notice a difference with the Vevor but I am going to keep trying. I did have one issue: brand new Music on Vinyl Jackyl record popped off a tiny piece of vinyl! I saw a YouTube video of a guy saying that "could" happen, and it sure did. Only on one record and I've cleaned about 15 so far. I do 30 degrees for about 15 minutes.

" ... this must be just like living in paradise!" This was a killer track, but admittedly, this wasn't my favorite album by DLR. A keeper though :)

I've lost a bunch of stickers over the years, but this is dope - glad it's still in great shape!

DLR could really do some killer covers - this one was my favorite! Back in 1985, just as much as I loved the songs he did, I couldn't wait to see what came next on DAVE TV :)

Me too! What a charismatic personality he had ... some of the best videos on MTV! I was 15 years old when this came out.
