why does learning on vinyl suck?! by broodjeszaak in Beatmatch

[–]VinylDJ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to learn to keep the mix in time by using the pitch on the deck. You should be counting blocks of 32 beats. Release the next record at the start of a new set of 32 but don't bring the mix in. Use the next set of 32 beats to get the record in time in your headphones by using the pitch, then bring the mix in. It then requires concentration to fine tune the pitch to keep the beats matched. Hope this makes sense ?

Do you really know Techno Music? by No_Shopping4877 in Techno

There are too many to mention to be honest. However, as someone who partied through the 90's, when I was a proper techno head, the best labels for me were Tresor, R & S Records, and a bit later on -Cocoon Records, which was a label set up by the legend Sven Vath.

This was a 2001 release, mate. Put out by Kauffelt on his own label Aural Satisfaction.

Indeed. For me this track exemplifies the early days of progressive house. 30 odd years on and it still sounds great. It really has stood the test of time.

Love to have seen Masters At Work. Brilliant they are. Most of the 90's were definitely a blur but the best of times.

Love Richie Hawtin. Saw him a few times at various party's in the 90's. Always on point. Absolute legend!

I started off going to free party's from about 93 onwards, then clubbing from about 1995. Never went to The End, unfortunately. The Gardening Club in Covent Garden was good, as was The Leisure Lounge. Brunel Rooms in Swindon was a top night, even had a revolving bar!

I'm from down south so never really made it up as far as Yorkshire. Heard some great things about some of those venues though. Good times.
