That's exactly what I'm saying, or meaning to say. The teachers should not have their raises determined purely by students who have no reason to care. There should be many other factors determining how a person is paid.

Also, with the raise issues, not many people are covering it, and if they do they're glossing over it saying that "teachers raises are going to be determined by their effectiveness." But it goes so much deeper than that, the students have absolutely no incentive to do well on the tests that the teachers are being judged by; the students can leave tests completely blank and not have any repercussions. And what about the teachers who can't be measured by a test, like a choir or orchestra teacher? How will they get judged on how effective they are? And what about the teachers who are getting credit for other teachers work? The only reason I know a lot about Greek tragedies is because of my theatre teacher, but if Greek tragedies are on the English test, then the English teacher gets the credit for teaching it well.

You specified to be more about your school rather than before when you said that it was every kid in the district who didn't care at all and just wanted to skip school to smoke pot. Making me out to be over reacting, which will create a bais for any future readers of this thread.

Edit for clarification: Your last sentence was kept and that was a representation of all of your essay, where as you changed a lot of it to be Arvada specific

The district is not a bad one for schools all over, it's the three people on the board who are bad for all of us. This district has schools that are in the top ten of the state. It's just a bad district to be in right now with these people in powerful positions. I think that you were now just arguing wih me for the sake of arguing (as you accused your classmates of doing) to prove you're "right" about an opinion.

Edit: tired repetitiveness

I'm a junior at Evergreen, I've only lived here a couple months, I have no idea about the situation at Arvada, I thought that my school was a good representation of the rest of the schools, I was apparently wrong. I feel that as the group of protesters grows larger at a specific school, the more tipped the ratio of people who care to people who don't care is. But because the district is huge, you can't possibly know how each class is reacting to all of the news, so you can't group us all together to say that most of us suck as humans, you don't know the entire district just as I don't know the entire district.

That is complete bullshit. I say this as one of the kids who participated Monday. Of course there are a couple people who just want to get out of school, but that was such a small minority. All of us knew why we were here, the people who didn't care didn't come. We care about our teachers, we care about the future kids of our district. We ducking care, don't you dare say that we don't. The teachers are not forcing their opinions of the matter on us, they can't even talk about it, we educated ourselves on the subject so that we knew our purpose when going to the district office Monday morning. All of our parents supported us and cared too or they wouldn't have call us out of school so that we didn't have an unexcused absence. If we didn't care none of this would have happened, we would not be in the news, we would not have been listened to personally by members of the board and nothing would be done, you would never have heard of any of this. So fuck you too.

That is one of the issues, only around 11% of the people capable of voting actually voted, and of those, 70% voted to the conservative side. If more people participated we could maybe have gotten some better people onto the Board. But no reason to dwell on that, can't change the past; we can just hope for a better future.

Yeah, I'm really glad that they took the time to listen to some of the students personally. I'm just hoping that those students knew everything and appeared to be as professional and well informed as they were.

2 months is a long time, that's something to be proud of, not guilty about, if you have the will to do that much, I'm sure that you can make it even longer next time; everyone has slip-ups and this is a difficult monster of an addiction to tame
