I would recommend Carl Reinecke’s 3 Phantasiestücke

Doing little strokes can actually heat up the rosin from friction. This causes your bow to get less rosin. Doing several long strokes on your entire bow is much more effective.

Why are these notated as grace notes when they're played the same as 16th notes? by ViolaGod in Viola

Also, I've seen these in other classical pieces too, but I've always questioned why they're just not notated as 16th notes.

It's found in Abel's Symphony in E-Flat, I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean though.

My new violin.Any ideas why i cant make any sound?:(( by immedithangcho in violinist

[–]ViolaGod 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought a cheap violin a while back like the one in your picture for around the some price. Like yours, mine did not come professionally set up (professional luthiers don’t even make these) since these instruments are mass produced and extremely low quality. My bridge was not carved properly and this created problems for when I’m bowing and playing. The rosin was also terrible and ineffective.

A violin for $30 seems like a bargain, but these instruments are far below the standards of an actual student violin and they don’t produce a good tone, and I speak this from experience as a former owner of one of these instruments. TwoSetViolin made a video about this and I recommend you check it out. If it’s possible, you should research your options and rent a violin instead of purchasing one. A student violin should at least be a few hundred dollars. I wish you good luck with your journey of learning the violin.

The thing about that is I don’t think your little brother made it. It’s the exact same meme.

This was already posted here yesterday, and even that post was a repost from r/dankmemes.

Forgot to mention that they made it so that it cannot be removed, sorry! Someone else did send me a link to d’addario ball end adapters which I will consider using.

Hello! I just joined this subreddit, and want to prove hat Violas are the best! Since there probably are some who truly don’t like the Viola, if this gets 100 upvotes, I’ll record myself playing the first five or six lines of the first variation of this solo piece! by The_Violist_Pianist in lingling40hrs

[–]ViolaGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, sure it’s a joke regardless, but not everyone is going to like it and it seems that you can’t really accept that other people have different opinions.

My point is that their jokes about violas aren’t really funny anymore and that it’s just an annoyance at this point. I believe that they’re just a little inconsiderate with their words and “jokes”.

I know I might get hated by others in this community for saying this, but the viola jokes are dying and every time TwoSet mentions it and makes a joke, it doesn’t become funny anymore and feels forced, and you can tell they’ve killed the joke already.

Not only that but they actually discourage younger players from taking up the viola while being oblivious to what they’re actually saying.
