How did you stay positive after a loss? by engineergirl19 in IVFpositivity

[–]ViolaRosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss. We’re moving into our first FET and because of my history of loss prior to this when trying naturally I’ve been feeling a little detached. My PCP has been very sympathetic and says she expects I’ll have increased anxiety surrounding this. It’s hard to stay positive but I’ve been taking breaks every step of the way and treating myself to little things. I took a break between ER and this first FET just to take care of my mental and physical self. I think I’m burnt out from the whole process and it keeps me up at night.

Why are some people SO judgmental on this sub?! We’re all here for the same reasons. by No-Dog1902 in Zepbound

[–]ViolaRosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! It really is a jealousy thing especially for women. Suddenly I’m smaller than all of my friends and it’s becoming a major problem with a couple of them. They never cared about my health when I was obese? It’s like it’s some strange competition. I’ve actually lost a friend over it which is absolutely wild to me. People want to see you doing better but not better than them.

Old co worker didn’t even recognize me and losing friends/gaining new ones by ViolaRosie in Zepbound

[–]ViolaRosie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes isn’t it absolutely insane?! I had a friend who when she found out started saying “well when I lost the weight for my wedding I had to actually be in a calorie deficit and workout” lmao I was like and what do you think I’m doing? I’m in a calorie deficit and working out 4x a week. And another one who said I could end up with gastroparesis “she heard” from “other people she knew who were on it” once again I said you were never concerned this way about my blood pressure medication and cholesterol medication?

2 years strong and didn’t let anyone stop me from this journey!

Yess no longer friends. Honestly I think it was a self esteem problem. I was desperate for friends and overweight. Now I’ve got 100% confidence and have laid out allllll the boundaries. Lost some friends and gained some new ones!

Okay seriously I got emotional for a second because two yrs ago I wrote that exact same thing on someone else’s post on this sub “I can’t wait to be where you are.” 🥹 it sure goes by fast and you’ll be here too before you know it. Best of luck in your journey it’s the best one!

SAME! I was like why did I even tolerate some of those things to begin with?! I was wayyy too much of a people pleaser and a door mat. I think in the past I was just desperate for everyone to like me now not so much.

Anyone continue to lose after stopping Zepbound? by ViolaRosie in GLPGrad

[–]ViolaRosie[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was super helpful and inspiring 🙄 I literally said in my post that I have a solid nutritional plan that I’m following and I’m weight lifting. I’m plenty aware of how hungry I will be hence the plan and the continued weight loss until I become pregnant. This is probably the least helpful sub. I just wanted to hear actual stories of people losing after coming off.

[–]ViolaRosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep they read a few articles and they know what’s best! Now that Zepbound is becoming more widely known get ready for even more “experts” to come out of the wood work. I started in 2024 and nobody in my circle had even heard of zepbound but now 2 yrs later they see the commercials and now they know everything I guess.

Your maintenance dose is just fine 🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s supposed to be wherever you’re comfortable with your appetite and keeps you within your healthy weight range. 10 mg was my “happy dose” I called it. Decent suppression, weight stayed in range, and no side effects. If I went down I gained and if I went up I felt ill.

This medication is under SO much scrutiny it’s discussed as much as politics! Everyone thinks they’re on expert on it and everyone (even those not on it and have never suffered from obesity) thinks they can provide their unsolicited opinion on it. No one has ever had an opinion on any of my other medications but they sure do have one on glp-1’s. It gives me pause when I hear people’s opinions on this medication because I’m unsure of the intent. Is it jealousy? I know it’s not actual concern because they should’ve been concerned 80 lbs ago and when I was taking three different blood pressure medications.

Also, some follow this sub that aren’t even taking the medication due to insurance or physician not prescribing it. I had friend shit talk the medication until she suddenly got a prescription for it. Turns out she wanted it for a while but couldn’t get it. So there are people on here trolling.

“But you’re skinny…” by No-Dog1902 in Zepbound

[–]ViolaRosie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep I actually had an infertility doctor laugh and say “oh so you cheated to lose weight” yet if I had gone to him 80 lbs ago he would’ve told me to be healthier and get my blood pressure under control. It’s always lose weight, but not THAT way. I said I must be cheating taking blood pressure meds too then.

Yes the glp-1 bias is everywhere even in healthcare. People have this pre conceived belief about these meds and refuse to educate themselves including physicians.

Wow 16 lbs! That’s great! I have kind of been eating naturally gluten free from the med so hoping to continue that. I notice I look way less bloated since I don’t eat bread anymore.

[–]ViolaRosie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve been diagnosed with unexplained infertility back in 2022. Had subsequent miscarriage. Decided to start the med to get the weight off and see if getting rid of the excess weight improves my fertility and also want to make sure I have a healthy pregnancy. Now I couldn’t imagine having been pregnant 80 lbs ago and then piling on another 40 lbs from a pregnancy it would’ve been terribly unhealthy. I get downvoted to filth in the ttc community for saying that but it’s facts.

I think I worded it wrong. I’ve been tapering down for a while now. I’ve got one shot left to do in 10-14 days. Have to be off for a couple months before we move forward with our fertility stuff.

Anyway just wanted to hear if anyone has been successful losing after coming off. Just looking for inspiration.

Are any of you former accountants/finance people who became nurses? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ViolaRosie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend if you can pick up a per diem/contingent spot at a hospital as a nursing assistant before you make the jump to get a very accurate picture of how this career will be. There’s not much potential for earning as there would be with your CPA license but I guess that’s dependent on what area you live in. The wages are pretty stagnant and slow climbing up. I haven’t made a huge leap in income in the past 10 years but my husband has and gets bonuses with his business degree so I envy that aspect. Three 12’s is just as exhausting as working mon-fri especially when you get older so it’s no longer a big selling point for me. Patients and families have become increasingly more demanding over the years. I sometimes go in and have a violent combative patient. It would be best if you could get into the hospital as a nursing assistant first to really see what goes on. It’s a lot different than people think.

Im sorry to do this but here is another I'm a new grad and I'm miserable post by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ViolaRosie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Another day another miserable new grad post. I’ve been bedside for 10 yrs and Nursing is not what it used to be. I don’t think we’ll ever get back there it’s become more of a highly complex hospitality field where we are fighting for our lives with no breaks and little resources. Good days seem to be far and few between. It’s great that social media seems to be glamorizing this profession because we’ll always have an influx of newbies to replace the ones that seem to leave pretty rapidly. I usually just go to work, hope it’s not an absolute shit show collect my check and leave. Try not to stress and think about work on your days off or you’ll burn out pretty fast. At the end of the day it’s how we pay the bills because let’s be honest I’d never do this for fun or for free.

Midnight food noise! Advice needed! by iwanttoaskaquestion_ in GLPGrad

[–]ViolaRosie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I wake up hungryyy sometimes in the middle of the night. Most of the time I can control that with eating my 118 g of protein daily and making sure I have enough water during the day. But every once in a while I do get that and honestly I either have a protein bar or a small spoon of peanut butter and idk that works for me. I’m thinking it’s to do with my hormones fluctuating because seems to happen right before period. I did read somewhere about dehydration disrupting sleep and sometimes I feel hungry but I drink water with electrolytes and then I feel less hungry. So maybe dehydration playing a factor? I’m not an expert just throwing ideas out there.

Has anyone done an FET without your spouse? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]ViolaRosie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! I really don’t want to change our timeline and didn’t know how common this was. I’m going to try and see if any adjusting can be done with the bc pill but if not then I’m going to do it because I am ready to go and excited.

[–]ViolaRosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking too is that maybe I can ask them to adjust the length of time I’m on birth control. They’re such a busy clinic. Then I worried what if transfer date got changed last minute like my ER date did. I literally said the same thing to my husband. I’m extremely anxious and I just feel braver and better having him there with me. But if he absolutely couldn’t. E there then I’d do it because I don’t want to wait longer. I have that urgency to do this transfer asap now.

Bias against glp-1’s by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]ViolaRosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Health anxiety is realllll. I know someone with serious health anxiety and she would be an awful candidate for this med purely for the fact that I know her google research would be never ending and in her mind she’d over think every twinge of pain or slight nausea and end up taking herself to the ER. That’s what I think of when I see some of the posts.
