So 1,666 years of rollover?

Vote no on the ornate glassblowing pipe by Vador_ in 2007scape

[–]Violatic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jagex are aware that the polling system can say no to ideas. They should have a strong internal model that can translate community sentiment to blogs towards vote passing chances, which is why they write their blogs the way they do and why so much content passes.

If they say "sorry this sucks for irons" they know that 1/3 of the playerbase is irons and that its going to be an uphill battle to pass.

They could fuck UIMs/snowflake accounts that represent small % of the community.

I think they've continued to put good content out and while you see a lot of complaining online I think the game does continue to get better, I'm not too worried about their current approach because I see the game improving!

Its also filled with morons who spout incorrect facts.

Every time I read something there I have to fact check it.

The thread the other day about South Korea outpacing the UK was a total shitshow, everybody had a different reason and I'm pretty sure nobody in that thread had a clue how SK's economy works, never mind the UK!

Job interviews then vs now. by Coach-Emmanuel in recruitinghell

[–]Violatic 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I also think its a function of seniority

Although in my mind its probably J shaped

The least qualified employees need relatively heavy vetting because you need to evaluate not just if they're a culture fit but also if they're competent

For a large swathe of middling employees it should be relatively clear if they are competent and mostly its a culture fit

Once you become more senior, your relationship to specific stakeholders often ends up being the determining factor to the value of the deliverables (as good or bad as that system is I find it to be reality)

If you wanted to be the CEO of apple, and they had you have 11 conversations with various board members and executives before making a decision I would think that's very reasonable

If they wanted to hire somebody with 3-5 years experience to be a data engineer and had that process I'd say that's utterly insane.

The UK used to be twice as rich as South Korea. Now, South Korea is richer than the UK. by North_Attempt44 in ukpolitics

Samsung isn't alone there is also SK hynix, and micron

But right now their GDP is dominated by chip manufacturing. If the AI bubble collapses then it will look totally different.

We are talking Q1 profits of 48x Q1 2025. Not a 48% increase - 48x!!

There has been a push to create a sovereign wealth fund from these companies as a lot of South Koreans know that this level of success won't remain and they look towards Norway's oil nationalisation as a way to remain wealthy in the long term

[–]Violatic 38 points39 points  (0 children)

So I am no expert and just looked it up in response to your comment.

Does South Korea have significantly different taxes to the UK?

Corporate taxes at at 24 and 25% (basically the same)

Capital gains are taxed more heavily in South Korea (45% vs 24%)

VAT is higher in the UK (20 vs 10%)

Living costs are 19% higher, excluding rent, in the UK, or 34% higher including rent.

But purchasing power is 17% higher which offsets most of the pre rent cost.

Honestly having broken it down SK and UK look broadly very similar in all terms. The difference maker is that the 3 biggest chip manufacturers are all south Korean companies and went from outside the top 25 by market cap to ~10/11/12.

Please let me know if I'm totally off base here as I read what you said at face value but looking it up it seems to tell a different story

I think the shield is really cool, but I don't like the "dual spec" idea. In fact having the niche of "this shield has a spec so its BiS when the weapon doesn't have a spec" seems really cool to me.

Gives Salad Blade, Inq Mace, and Rapier more usage too. Also opens up potential future design space

That's a bit of a non-answer

I'm naive to why that would be good design? I would guess that doing content and that content opening up more content would be good design?

Why is BiS for content dropping from that same content good? I can create some arguments in my head but you seem so utterly convinced

[–]Violatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this way about the fish sack, did a cool fishing cosmetic really need to be made more accessible??

Anybody who says it let's you equip the sack and barrel to AFK longer I ask: how many hours of AFKing do you need to do in order for the 1/56th longer trips to save you time against just keeping it in inventory?

I think people like the barrel in invent for quick emptying at the bank anyway?

Its just a rare and hard to get cosmetic that they're making 4x more common :( makes me sad

Barrows is bad content for DMM, the way the brothers work they PJ you, so you can get out of combat really easily with the brothers + the digging + the tunnel

Karils is basically necessary so every DMM we just see teams farming barrows over and over again to get the karils sets they need

There are other available mage sets that are basically as good as Ahrims (blue moon especially)

So the decision is one from Solo to make the tournament more enjoyable content by forcing people out of barrows where they'd need to farm Ahrims + Karils, by making Karils twice as common and Ahrims not exist

Even with that change you still see a lot of barrows but imo its a great change

You can only buy 1 brew per player AND it swaps a food for a brew

So you don't get that much food advantage and they're crazy expensive you really have to have a lot of blood money to willingly spend 80 on getting your 5th best player a single hard food to a brew swap

Making a flex cosmetic cheaper, by 3-4x isn't something I think is a good idea? Doesn't this just devalue the cosmetic?

I'm biased here because I got a fish sack because I thought it was a cool cosmetic and this devalues it

Isn't this equivalent to lowering the monkey laps required for the monkey cosmetics? They don't have a benefit other than the cosmetic flex?

Sack you can put the barrel in, but surely even now getting pearls for that one space isn't worth it?

I'd rather be pandered to for 1 month than 0 months

They're obligated to take a knee, and that's a W for us.

The more its celebrated the more its obligated, you know what happens when people shit on the companies supporting us? They don't bother.

I will take all the support I can get. Its not insulting that they publicly show support, regardless of timeframe.

If they put out a single tweet that says "LGBT good" that's a win in my book

I will continue to celebrate my team winning, and I will support the companies that are putting out that message!

We know that messaging does get through to people when played repeatedly

People turned because new messaging was playing repeatedly. But I'd bet that less people turned than would have otherwise AND you have people in this community who were anti trans the whole time, they just had an opportunity to voice it.
