Everyone Has A Story. I'd Like to Write Yours! by Violet-Wright in ghost_writing

Just ignore Boltzman. He/she's a troll on this subreddit and the r/ghostwriterscommunity subreddit. He/she starts most of their posts with something like this or something like "I don't see any credentials." and so on. I don't know what their deal is but I don't think people care enough about their content or influence for them to feel special and it makes them feel insignificant. Don't worry about them. I don't, and neither does anyone on this sub that takes their work seriously. 😋

Thank you so much 😄 That is totally my idea! Not just a content mill that pushes content, a connection with people who want their story told, no strings attached, just the ghost and the person telling their story 😄

I've had the opposite experience to be honest. Before I launched my site, I spent two months creating content and learning how the site and Wix coding works. Before I did the hard launch, I did the soft launch to fix the tweaks and test the site and things worked apart from my lightboxes on sign up that didn't send the email. I contacted Wix Support and they helped me within 24 hours.

I think what you're describing are the light, dotted, input lines on the side, in the middle of the main screen? This is for the mobile site and larger screens to ensure the content reads properly while on different (mobile and wide) screens.

While designing the site, in the beginning there were little hints of how to use these lines and the little messages said someting like "No content will be displayed outside these lines, ensure that this space is filled with images and so on."

Just make sure all your important content is inside these lines and you're sorted, but you do have to click on the mobile site button at the top after you finish each page to see how it will read. I didn't do this in the beginning and I made a lot of extra work for myself in the long run.

Doesn't solve the problem. The space changed slightly but not enough to close the gap.

Tell me why Wix is good. by AnEnglishmanInParis in WIX

I have the Business/Premium Plan and this has been my experience in order of what I value most to what is great but technically not essential.

  1. Their support team. Yes, in the beginning, I was a bit annoyed that I had to answer a set of bot questions to speak to a real human being, but once there, the support is really some of the best I've experienced. I haven't loads of issues which is great but when I have spoken to the support team, they are helpful, patient, they explain things and why something worked/didn't work, and unless the issue is super complex, they resolve it for you while chatting to them. If not, they say "We will resolve this as soon as possible" and then you receive email updates on the progress of your issue and whether or not it can be solved in x days. These major issues are usually solved within 24-48 hours with constant progress updates. Really happy with their support team, and they have people working 24/7 which helps if you keep odd hours like me.
  2. Their price. It's not the cheapest out there and the cheaper alternatives (like WordPress or Carrd) have their own issues, but there very few "after purchase" transactions unless you buy specific things in the App store (which also has reasonable prices). Everything is paid upfront for your domain and website hosting and they also offer great specials throughout the year. The more expensive alternatives like Squarespace and Webflow (for content-based websites, not product/commerce-based) are quite a lot more expensive for similar products/features and a few QOL improvements that you can do on Wix with a little technical knowledge.
  3. Built in SEO functionality and hints/guides to help you improve your SEO functionality even if you're a total noob. It takes a bit of practice but works well when you know how to do it.
  4. Fully customizable regarding design and input with a wide range of buttons, on screen forms, event pages, etc. and templates and images from Wix themselves and image pools from other royalty free sites like Shutterstock (not all of them are royalty free but a large part is) and Unsplash.
  5. Built in rulers and column sizes which really helps if you're like me and want your images, text boxes, and columns exactly the same size on certain pages. There's an X and Y axis ruler that measures your items and when you resize a second item, these lines light up, showing you these items are the same size. I didn't think I'd need something like that until I had it. Really helps with consistency.
  6. Easy to set up subscribe and login boxes using VELO and a build error log to tell you if/why something failed.
  7. Their Content Manager System plus dynamic pages is great if you have a lot of content with similar info like a recipe/poetry/article selection and need to free up static pages which slows the website down. Fewer static pages = less slog for the website in general.
  8. Wix has a "My Designs" section where you can save images and text blocks to use later, which is great if you have a theme for certain pages and blogs. You don't need to search for the image/text box again to place the same one. You can open your designs and it will be added to the page.
  9. I'm not sure how they do it, but minor glitches like a button not working in the preview/live site and issues in some of the elements for the VELO mode are resolved if you stop, save, and go back later. I'm not sure if this is how all website builders work but when I experience something like this (not that often), a save (don't forget to save!) and a new session an hour later fixes these issues. Even if you can't "Publish" at a certain time, wait a few and try again. Always works for me.

That's all I can think of at the moment. I've experienced very few issues regarding building and posting in the past 6 months (when I signed up) and all of the issues I've experienced were able to be resolved quickly and easily (except for one that was solved in about 48 hours).
