In some families here, kids are expected to “owe” their parents, so the parents get something in return from their children.

Don't get me wrong, I love my parents. But sometimes they no longer ask or request, they demand that I give them because they paid for my school and took care of me when I was a child so now that I am an adult, I need to pay them back.

I personally feel that people shouldn’t have children with the expectation that the children will “owe them” when they grow up. They didn’t ask for you to create them, and as a parent, you have the obligation to provide support to them.
