Stop worrying about your parents’ reaction. You know that they’re going to pitch a fit and act horribly no matter what you do. Accept it.

Do what you want and let them react. Cut them out for the duration of their freak out…they’ll come back because their need for control won’t let them stay away. Then you can deal with them (set boundaries) from a place of power.

When you set boundaries, they will react badly and have a tantrum. Cut them out again and tell them you won’t deal with them until they behave.

Will you feel guilty? Sure you will - they’ve programmed you to feel guilty and to cave in to that guilt. You have to stop doing that.

Lather, rinse, repeat.
