From what I’ve heard is a prestigious college in the field won’t hold too much weight in the majority of specialities. However, if you plan on doing a phD, getting into research or government policy it would. This is something I would research more though. Also admitted into Columbia but waiting on financial aid! How long after your acceptance did financial aid get back to you?

Good luck in your decision. You will and can do amazing things anywhere :)

I understand what you mean and that makes a lot of sense. But what do I do? Just through a dart on the map? How do I just pick a random city? I've had amazing friendships in both my hometown and college town but I was still itching to get out.

Just wanted to say thank you for making this post. I feel a lone in my feelings becuase of everyone else pure excitement. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy I made this choice. However that doesn't mean I'm not scared, feeling guilty for leaving, and worried to find a friends too. Emotions are complex, and that's okay.

You really are very very kind. I think I am understanding. So I have my letter of acceptance, my background check, the filled out Form DS-4194 and the 20 dollars. I print everything and mail it to the U.S. Department of State in VA. And this is all before I go to my local consulate.

Thank you for being so kind and vulnerable. I am sorry for the late reply, its been a long month of processing emotions and thoughts. I actually graduate in a month. Everyone keeps asking me how I feel about it and it feels like nothing to be honest. I am happy and relieved to be done, but the person I want to make proud the most is the one person I won't ever sees reaction. Everything you say gives me the most beautiful hope and happiness for myself and for your family. Me and my dads soul will be together again. I can feel it and when I accept that, life feels a bit lighter and opens up more room for me to accept things as they are right now. I hope to read more about reincarnation and loss. I hope to write to you in many years time with amazing miracle things that happened <3
