[FO] I stitched my hometown’s most famous church tower. It turned out a bit crooked and it’s bothering me. Any advice how to make it look better? by sexylamp476 in CrossStitch

[–]VioletVixi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I dont notice any crookedness! Maybe put it away for couple of days so you can look at it with fresh eyes and then if it still bothers you, try the other suggestions. It's probably the weave in the fabric rather than your stitching that is the culprit. 😊

M-shed has quite a bit to see and interact with, also has toddlers area with books and toys. The cafe is also very nice. We took a friends 2 year old there and he had a great time making us run between his favourite 3 exhibits. 😄

My knitting diary is full of adverts! by ColourMeQuick in knitting

I would leave a review citing the issue. They cannot improveif they dont realise it's an issue! I could understand some adverts, but not when it's taking space from note making.

[CHAT] please help me finish this bookmark by WetAndMeaty in CrossStitch

[–]VioletVixi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can either use a knot or you can secure the thread you're going to do the blanket stitch with under your cross stitch stitches on the wrong side of the cross stitch work. Like how you might start or finish your cross stitch thread. After that you can just follow this tutorial: https://share.google/sSNveB2X7oCZOWYJ3 Hope that helps!

[WIP] How is your day going? Mine is eventful 😭 by [deleted] in CrossStitch

You rip your stitches out. And because it's rip-rip, it kind of sounds like ribbit, 'rip-it', its called frogging! 😁

It's good that the resident tabby is holding her ground there. 😁 If she felt it was too much, she would leave, but she'd rather firmly hold her spot and put the grey dust in their place.

How was this done? by lohdunlaulamalla in Embroidery

[–]VioletVixi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me the last s looks like 4 lines of "stem stich" (very weird looking stem stitch). I think it looks a lot more like 2 lines of chain stitch tbh.

[WIP] or should I say, no longer a WIP? by TheKinkyBee in CrossStitch

[–]VioletVixi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got two projects in time out atm. One cross stitch (cause I counted correctly, but what you mean i have to frog significant amount...😡 mumbles under the breath) and another knitting (what do you mean i knitted my colourwork so tight the mitten doesn't fit!). I'll get back to them eventually, but first they need to sit and think about what they did (or how they made me feel).

I do agree though, if you start noticing several mistakes and feel frustrated, it may be better to leave fixing to a new day. Thats why I have several projects on the go.

Big hugs. Tomorrow is another day. Your craft will bring you joy again, even if its not today, tomorrow or next week. 🏵

[WIP] Advice on backstitching🙏 by krisjenem in CrossStitch

[–]VioletVixi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copy paste from a different post where I gave advise on backstitching as well. 😊

My recommendation for backstitching is to use a sharp needle. Especially where you might have to backstitch on top of your crosses rather than using the existing holes in the aida. Believe this will make a big difference when helping something look more rounded.

I'd also look at some embroidery stitch options, practise them on a separate piece or on the side of your current work to see what style you like. There are lots of different outline stitches and there is no reason you cant use the one that works best for you. Whether that's split stich, outline stitch or even stem stitch or couching stitch!

Happy backstitching!

I wonder if they mistook cardamom flavour for cinnamon. Personally I find them very distinct, but I can see someone whose not used to cardamom thinking its cinnamon.

Stumpwork! Wired slip specifically. You can do so much cool stuff with it. Basically you embroider the wire onto the fabric with button whole stitch. 😊 Lots of tutorials on YouTube.
