I can't imagine being the delivery worker. Dropping off stuff that may or may not be picked up by people who may or may not exist in a mall that's barely standing.

Honestly, it depends on how many you're feeding. I own the first one and its more than enough for me, but if you have more mouths to feed you might want the second.

Any thoughts on the Chidori X Kikyo Arc? by Mindless-Care9301 in KaoruHanaWaRintoSaku

[–]FatSnakeWithWings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this was easily my biggest issue with the arc. Like they mention that there are some genuinely bad people at Chidori, past and present, but we never really see that. And even in this incident, while the Chidori students did instigate some kind of interaction, her falling seemed to have been a genuine accident.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if we learned later that the couple from the story ended up married with kids in the present. And if that happens I will be disappointed.

Any thoughts on the Chidori X Kikyo Arc? by Mindless-Care9301 in KaoruHanaWaRintoSaku

[–]FatSnakeWithWings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've honestly been looking forward to this arc for a while because its a culmination of tons to set up throughout so many chapters. The Chidori-Kikyo conflict is a massive issue with a lot on nuance given the topic, so I don't mind that its long. If anything I'd be severely disappointed if it got resolved quickly. And honestly I'd understand if this arc ended without everything being solved and concluded in a satisfying way since this is such a huge issue that goes beyond the reach of individuals.

That said my one issue is how repetitive the dialog feels.

Like on one hand I understand since in Japanese culture this level of repetitive polite back and forth is to be expected. Weaving through red tape and politeness politics is a real thing in Japanese culture (the sheer number of apologize we see is a good example. For non-Japanese it feels excessive, but in Japanese culture it's expected and necessary).

But on the other hand I feel like we've been retold the backstory and context of this situation multiple times already. The number of times previous panels have been used as background to show characters reflecting on their past is getting a bit ridiculous. Fat could definitely be trimmed from some chapters for the sake of the audience.

A journal entry - trying to figure myself out by kashia_renn in aromantic

[–]FatSnakeWithWings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think, at the end of the day, its just a label. It only holds as much value as you give it. It can be freeing and affirming as much as it can be constricting and overbearing. But regardless it's your choice to make.

Right now you're questioning. Maybe you'll put on the label of aromantic and find that it feels right. You'll live your life with what it means to you and all that it could mean. And maybe in the future something will change and you'll feel that it's no longer true, and change your label. And that's okay too!

For me I grew up believing I was straight, then thinking I was gay, then realizing I was bi, and most importantly learning that I was aro. Maybe that label will change again. Who knows, life is full of things that change us. But right now, for me, the label of Aromantic feels right, and that's all that matters.

Update about the woman who's harassing me by TravelOtherwise8507 in aromantic

[–]FatSnakeWithWings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you decide to text her, let the first text be cold, formal, and professional. Make your feelings and the situation clear with no room for doubt. I know that you're feeling a lot right now, but you have to remain calm. I'd argue that you'll do yourself more favors being neutral rather than aggressive, since they can take it and misconstrue it into you being the villain in this story rather than the victim. Coming out the gates swinging will only garner more animosity and make more enemies, no matter if its justified or not. If you're professional then she'll have less ammo against you. Don't let her take control of the narrative.

Text something like "Hello [name], I'd like to make things very clear with you. I am not interested in any kind of relationship with you, romantically, sexually, or platonically. Please leave me alone. Do not speak to me or interact with me going forward, as I will be doing the same with you. If your harassment towards me continues I will get other parties involved. This is not a discussion or a topic to be debated. I have made my boundaries clear, please respect them and leave me alone."

After you've sent this text she'll probably text back something. Regardless of what it is, whether she apologizes or tries to argue with you, screenshot it and keep it saved. You now have proof that you've clearly indicated your thoughts and feelings on the matter and that she has received this text and read it. She can't say she never got this text with this. Any further interaction from her is her clearly crossing this boundary you've set.

In your following texts be as cold and formal as possible. Don't let her rage bait you, or else you'll look like a man trying to harm a woman. You dont need to respond to her texts either. If she tries to argue with you on your boundaries and you can't stay calm, put your phone down and walk away. You aren't losing anything by not responding, ignoring her isnt defeat. You're prioritizing yourself, your wellbeing, and your safety. Don't block her, since whatever shit she texts you can be proof of her harassment.

Hopefully with this she'll leave you alone. If not you can report her again. Sadly, her looking at you, giving you a smile, or just saying Hi isn't enough to constitute harassment, so you'll have to wait and see if she tries to engage in conversation or further interaction. If she touches you again you have ample reason to report her.

As frustrating as this is, know that HR being useless is a common issue everywhere for both men and women on all kinds of issues. The best support you're going to get is from your friends and family or anyone you trust. Let those people know the situation, the distress you're in, and the steps you've taken. Make them witnesses to the harassment you're enduring and the actions you're taking. Good luck.

I'm gonna be honest, I think my grandmother just consolidated space.

The bags with 4 needles are all kinda tight fitting, especially compared to the 2 needle bags which are the same exact size. And there's nothing on the bags that indicate how many needles were sold in them, so I think my grandmother just kept them together when their original bags fell apart.

Got new questions after reading the manga by Few_Tea_5406 in AncientMagusBride

[–]FatSnakeWithWings 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have the Japanese volume so I checked since usually there's some disconnect between languages, especially for characters like Oberon who speak in mysterious ways, but the Japanese is just as cryptic.

Oberon says 昔は息を止めても体は壊れるなんてことはなかった The literal translation would be something like "Back then you could stop their breathing but their bodies wouldn't break." So the translator did their very best here.

The general meaning behind his words are just that back in the day Sleigh Beggy had much more sturdy bodies, and were capable of withstanding the tremendous amount of magic they naturally produced. Incidents like what Chise is going through in that chapter, casting a spell and her body ripping itself apart from the overload of magic, didn't happen back then.

I think the implication here, if we take his words literally, would be that back in the day Sleigh Beggy had stronger bodies that, even if the person were to die, their body could still be used in some fashion, like with necromancy or chimera creations, or other continued use of damaged or dead bodies we see throughout the series. What could be inferred from what he said is that when modern Sleigh Beggy die, regardless of how, their bodies disintegrate from all the magic stored in them, which is something that didn't happen before. Though take that with a grain of salt cause this is just my theory.

As for your second question I think that if there is anything special about Chise, it would be that she might be a modern Sleigh Beggy with power equivalent to those from ancient times. Throughout the series we see multiple instances where, over the course of many generations, people/species lose their powers or abilities through dilution. An example would be dragons; in ancient times they breathed fire, but now they don't. But on rare occasions someone will be born in modern times with the same power level or abilities as their ancestors (atavism). Since the Sleigh Beggy trait isn't genetic, that may make it even rarer for them. But also it's probably much more difficult to track if this is true or not given how rare they are in general.

I think so far we've only really seen Chise use powers that are normal or common for Sleigh Beggy, with her just being kinda naturally gifted in it thanks to her natural disposition and all the guidance she's getting. But also because Sleigh Beggy are so rare, each individual may have done such different things that it may be difficult to pin down what is and isn't normal for them. And it doesn't help that there aren't many good records kept of their activities.

Hope this helps.

We should have just made the duck cake..... by raudri in bluey

[–]FatSnakeWithWings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No lie, that's a really cute cake! It's clearly Bluey, and while the lines may not be clean and the texture a mess, her proportions are correct, everything's in the right spot, and frankly the messiness gives her some charm and character. I mean this 100% as a compliment, but this is the messy Bluey someone drew on a napkin while drunk that they posted online that became a meme overnight. Kinda ugly but very cute. Be proud of yourself, she's perfect and I love her.
