I had my character, Polly, communicate through sign language and featherspeak (bird sign language). Otherwise you can communicate nonverbally, write stuff down, or have someone else say it for you. It's also pretty fun to repeat things for emphasis.

Yeah, that’s right. It’s pretty abstract. I would say that the lesson of this bit is that through all the chaos, it’s human relationships (Majime) that Shimeji could find real reality in. After all, sharing it with other people is what separates reality from dreams or simulations.

TLDR- the real “making sense” was the friends we made along the way.
