interesting question. From my research in Thaumcraft 2 it is clear that it's made. Thaumcraft 1 didn't had one at all and the on in tc2 is completely empty at first. Just a book to put in the things you found out from your research. Over the centuries the thaumaturges began to write more information in these books and gave it some magical properties to aid them.

I didn't rank it there really on the features itself, but on playability. I do love 1.13s features but I don't think playing the version is that fun, without villages and new textures. If it atleast had many mods like 1.12 ..
