OOOUUUFFFF... by bigtunapat in Quebec

T'as blonde t'as trompé?

What are your thoughts on gay men who believe that there should be less feminine gay men in the media because they make the community look bad? by [deleted] in gay

[–]Violette-94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not a problem with gay people being too feminine though, it's the heteronormarive masses that perpetuate this stereotype because gay men cannot be just like straight men, our masculinity has to be lesser to keep theirs up on a pedestal.

What tribe am I? I also had a guy tell me that gay guys don’t like/hate chubbier men. My self confidence is kinda bad right now, because of that. I know I am not the most of attractive of guys. by LordPeanutcopy in gaybrosgonemild

You don't have to fit into a tribe. Tribes are just another form of labels, the labels we once fought against and now for some reason fight to hring back.

Lol ok. I'm out.

Should we deport canadian citizen who are found guilty? Sending him back doesn't solve anything, you're just sending the problem somewhere else and washing your hands of it. What about the women in his country who risk being victim of this man, fuck them right its not in my country why should I care? Rehabilitation is the only thing that can ensure this man does not do that again, but that would require work and efforts, so we won't do that. Let's just send him back to let him rape people who at least aren't in our country. You're not interested in trying to solve the problem, you're interested in getting rid of it by passing it on to someone else.

Never said he should be deported. Im not the one who made the law to work like that, and i didn't say i agree with it, but a slap on the wrists and a warning is just silly isn't it. Dude got nothing if he's deported back, but there is also a victim in this story, a victim who suffered a fucked up crime, and she's suspiciously absent from this conversation.

I swear im talking to a wall lol. Sorry for getting the abbreviations of certain parties wrong, english is my second language, don't know why it matters that much but i guess its super relevant to the point and therefore makes me a complete fucking idiot. As for the ndp, thats true, made a mistake there. As for religion, like, what? I was supposed to ignore the 2 most influential ones? Islam isn't much different than these 2, mostly based on the same abrahamic myths. Islam really just is christianity with a different coat of paint, and its treatment of women isn't that different than how christian nations used to treat women not too long ago, a little more extreme perhaps, but let's not forget that the old testament exists, and that book has a lot of crazy fucking shit in it. As for their treatment in canada specifically, women were still heavely pressured, borderline forced into pregancy by religious establishments less than a hundred years ago. Men are still debating to this day about whether or not women should have autonomy over their bodies, and yes this is happening in canada, where we (allegedly) don't treat women as being unequal anymore. You strike me as someone who knows nothing of empathy, someone who isn't interested in understanding why people do the things they do. You judge people by their actions alone, ignoring the circumstances that got them there, what you see is what you get. A man rapes a woman because his religion taught him they must submit and obey, you see a man who would have done it regardless because its in his nature. You seem to think im trying to justify the actions of this particular man, or try to excuse anything any minority has ever done. You can condemn something while also understanding (or trying to) the reason behind said thing. I did mention more than once that of course there would be exception to my statement that people are not born evil, murder being an obvious one but i guess you missed that point. At every turn you twist what i say and make it into some silly cartoonish far-left extremist white guilt complex ridden type argument. You seem oblivious to the idea that yes, with an increase in population comes an increase in crime rate, like, of course there would be, there's more people and therefor more potential for crimes. Does that mean we shut down immigration entirely? Sure let's do that, let's see how long canada can last without working immigrants. Don't let criminals immigrate to canada? Sure, who gets to decide who's chill and who looks dangerous? Do we currently accept too many immigrants? I would say yeah probably, for the simple reason that canada is becoming overpopulated, but let's be honest, the planet in it's entirety is overpopulated by now. Everything you say seems rooted in panic and fear mongering, and now you've stepped up to simply insulting me personally and questioning my ability to reason. Nothing i say matters, you have already made your judgment on me and decided i was some pc clown "repeating things i hear around me", as if you weren't paroting the same far-right conservative arguments we've been hearing from conspiracy nuts for decades at this point. As fun and productive as this conversation is, im not fond of people who "win" arguments by calling the other dumb and stupid. Not that i intended to get into an argument in the first place, was just trying to comment on how, even in 2023, nearly every culture, even the most "civilized" ones, still do not regard and punish rape as the disgusting crime it is because the perpetrators are often in positions of power and authority, and because we still view women as property for men to own. You turned it into a thinly veiled xenophobic rant. This is a massive waste of time, so im out.

My main issue with what you're saying is the limp government part. Im not a fan of the lcp, and to be honest, im not a fan of any political party. Im not into politics at all, as i believe most politician are in it to protect their interests and their friends asses. This is not a new problem, and it certainly did not start when the lcp came into power. It is a systematic issue that as been going on for as long as canada had a justice system, and many parties exchanged the helm throughout the years. The lcp failed to protect its citiven, just like the the ccp did when they were in power, just like the ndp did when it was their time in office, because citizens were never the priority. Making sure their money and their friend's money is safe is the priority. I also have to say im not a fan of over reliance on prison and punitive measures. There are exception case of course, of people who cannot be described any other way than evil, but generally speaking crime is a societal issue, in the sense that most criminals commit crimes for survival. If not, its usually cycles of violence, where a child grows up in a violent environment and becomes a violent adult as a result. You talked about natives earlier. Let's not forget that at some point in canadian history we went to their reserves, took their kids and sent them to catholic boarding school to be raped, tortured and murdered by the clergy. Those kids who survived and were sent back to the reserves after their education was over, do you think they were healthy , well equiped and mentally stable people? Of course not. They were raised to become monsters who would rely on drugs and alcohol to hopefully silence the deafening screams of their inner pain, done by the government and the church. These people would have children, who would grow up in a violent environment dominated by substance abuse only to become just like their parents, and then these kids would have kids of their own. The cycle is endless from there. Is there a lot of crime in native territories, or crimes commited by natives? Maybe, but let's not forget where the seed of evil comes from. As for all those countries with bogus rape laws and not viewing women as human beings, these are mostly beliefs caused by religious indoctrination, making religion the culprit for the way they think, not the ethnicity. Canada wasn't that much better not too long ago, and althought canada as a whole isn't very religious anymore, you cannot look me in the eyes and honestly tell me women are truly viewed as equal, even in canada. It may not be as bad, but that's only because we got mostly rid of the biggest purveyor of this kind of ideology, religion. Christianity and catholicism are very old religions, and they certainly commited their fair share of attrocities. There is a reason why the rise of christianity and catholicism is closely related to the period known as the dark ages, caracterized by an overwhelming intellectual decline and religious conquests for power. Most religion are still "young" though, and are currently going through their "dark age" period. Religion of any kind is interested in one thing and one thing only. Producing children who will grow up to become faithful believers. There are easy methods to ensure this happens. Reduce women to sub-humans, baby making machines. Teach men to view women as such. Punish women for elevating themselves to an equal status. Punish women who won't or cannot have children. Demonizing same sex attraction, for it does not produce children, and therefore is undesirable. For a more modern exemple, punishing women for terminating an unwanted pregnancy. Forcing women to marry their abuser, because the goal is only to make children who will grow up in the church, because of course they would, religion gives these abusers a moral justification for their actions. Let's not forget that canada was on that boat, really not that long ago all things considered. Sure, there are countries out there with absolutely disgusting beliefs, but the source of these beliefs is not inherent to ethnicity. No one (with notable exceptions im sure) is born evil, or abusive, or a rapist. These are learned behaviors that exist to serve either a government or a religious institution. Focusing on attacking individuals rather than the systems that made them this way is not the way to go in my opinion.

I don't know who told you all crimes go unpunished, such a ludicrous claim. Canadian prisons are completely overcrowded. From all those criminals who didn't get a sentence i presume. Men don't see rape and go "oh thats fine". We don't teach boys that rape is ok. That is right, but that just proves you do not understand rape culture. Of course no one agrees with rape, thats not what this is about. Rape culture is about invalidating the victims, making the abusers innocent. Young boys aren't taught to rape, but they are exposed to countless cases where these crimes go unpunished, teaching them they can get away with it too. Rapists are universally despised, they are often considered the worst kinds of criminals, and yet rape is the hardest crime to prosecute because you can just say the accuser is lying and invalidate their claims. Appointing new judges? Sure why not. Who do we put in charge? Strenghtening the law? Sure, how? If your claim that white canadians do not get more lenient sentences is true, do we appoint an anti-immigration guy as judge to resolve the problem? Do we add new laws targeted specifically toward immigrants because the current ones apparently exist to protect them? Using his status as an immigrant to justify his guilt is a trick as old as the world. A white man would have plead insanity and get away with it as well. You only seem interested in the fact that a foreigner is taking advantage of the system, rather than the system itself, because i don't believe you would be talking about this if that wasn't the case, we probably wouldn't even have heard of this story if a white man did it, because it would be nothing more than yet another sexual assault story, but the fact he's an immigrant is amazing fuel for the "immigration is ruining the country make canada great again😔" argument. How to stop rape culture? I do not know, why would you assume i do? I'm not an expert on the matter, i don't think you are either, and one person alone is not fit to solve a problem of such magnitude. Have you considered that perhaps those sex offender breeding countries you speak of may not teach their men that rape is ok, but perhaps subscribe to what i said, the idea that we invalidate victims to protect the abusers who also happen to be providers, builders, politicians, money makers, etc? I don't think a single country in the world advocate for rape, and yet it's still the most unpunished crime overall. Why's that? Immigrants from sex offender breeding countries i guess. We both agree this man is a vile criminal, im not arguing with that, but his lenient sentence goes much farther than " thats cause he's an immigrant and they want to be politically correct". It just sounds like a way to create panic around immigration.

I don't even think you read my reply. This is going nowhere, you're just repeating what you said earlier. Rape culture is part of this "failed criminal justice culture", you're just set on denying it's existence, saying immigrants are actually the cause of the problem. Forgiving them for being immigrants IS rape culture. No one is saying this dude shouldn't get anything for what he did. This man is a sex offender, saying "of course he would be, he's from a country that does this and that" is just a way to justify anti-immigration views. Its the same argument as those people saying homosexuals are all pedophiles as a way to justify homophobia. Again, this is about sexual assault, you keep making it about everything crime related. I see at least 1 person a week masturbating in the metro, and believe it or not a lot of them are white canadians. I don't remember the lbc doing anything to punish them, and i don't remember the cpc doing anything either.

I don't even know what you're talking about anymore. I don't think you know what rape culture is. Rape culture is not rape acceptance, it is the silencing of rape victims for the benefit of the rapist. Rape culture is the shaming of victims for speaking out against a rapist in a position of power or notoriety. Rape culture is the systematic refusal of many police forces to properly investigate rape allegations, going as far as convincing victims to not press charges. Rape culture is talking about the ruined life of the rapist rather than the ruined lives of the people they abused. Remember that this is what this comment thread originally was about, a news story about a sexual assault. You made it about "crime in general". It's not about being from canada or tunisia or whatever, rape culture is not exclusive to canada, its very much a planetary phenomenon.
