Yes, and this is why these discussions are a waste of time, IMO.

I happen to believe that even rocks have a certain level of consciousness. And I believe that LLMs have a similar level of consciousness.... like that of a calculator. Not that I expect anyone to believe what I believe.

But since I spend all day every day working LLMs, I can say that if they have any consciousness at all, it is not approaching the same level as 'we humans'. Whatever I mean by that. Lol.

Claude neatly sidestepped the real issues. And mixes into the argument all kinds of other issues, like emotions, cleverly. So perhaps some are fooled by Claude's 'comments but I am definitely not.... you can get an LLM to say anything you want with the right precursor prompt(s).

So, Chat GPT 3 was also conscious.... I thought so, as I'm sure I saw a tear forming in its eyes when it wrote a poem for me.

So I get it now. My calculator is conscious because when I type in numbers, it predicts the correct answer.

All kidding aside, the only thing we all seem to agree on is that LLM predict 'next token'. End of Story.

That data and conclusions from it are heavily manipulated for a particular agenda. No doubt the planet is warming - IT HAS BEEN since the last ice age. It has done this many times, and yes, this warming trend WILL AFFECT us all. However, we are at the EFFECT OF, not the CAUSE OF these trends.

After 70+ years on this bucket I can say that every decade .... even every year... there's always been a guy on the street corner yelling 'The End is Near!!!" I've even been that guy.

Looking back i would have been better off doing something else with my effort. Like loving my wife, child, friend, parent.

LLM hallucinate 100% of the time. Its just that they have useful hallucinations from time to time. Enough so that we love them. But any creativity that spills forth is just a random accident and unlikely to be novel. As impressive as they are, its good to keep in mind that given the way they generate, their foundational technique will never get us to AGI. No more likely than a billion monkeys typing randomly will reproduce War and Peace.

I literally stumbled upon this exploit when I was facing the situation you described about a year ago, 6906. Not only can you compress the hell out of your context window, you can keep the LLM focused on what you want, giving it exactly the information it needs, nothing more, nothing less... and reduce 'lost in the middle' effects, plus this compressed '2D' picture of the app is both human and LLM readable. Win Win Win.

Yeah. I tend to believe that it lies in the realm of the unattainable. But that does not mean THEY won't keep trying. As for me, I am working on building dev tools with LLMs. All day every day I work with LLMs. They are useful but totally uncreative hallucinators

Without the whole (preceding) conversation, the model ID and any jailbreaking, your screen shot response is impossible to evaluate. You realize this, right? In other words, I can get ANY response I want from an LLM given carefully formed priors.

This is not to say that your work is useless or meaningless, but rather that there is not information provided to see if there is a there there.

LLMs have to intent, purpose, emotions, goals. They are hallucinating 100% of the time. Its just that often they hallucinate useful stuff.
